Surgeons. These people are the most noteworthy and crucial part of the medical community. Their knowledge, skill and ability go a long way towards being able to extend the rates of life expectancy in the general population. To most people surgeons are considered heroes and life savers. This is why Meredith Grey on the hit television show “Grey’s Anatomy” indefinitely inspires me. If I could meet any fictional character and spend the evening with them, I would choose Meredith Grey because of her life story, her notable traits, and her ability to be a great doctor. Meredith Grey was the daughter of the brilliant surgeon Ellis Grey, who was world famous and awarded twice with the Harper Avery Award. Meredith’s childhood took a backseat to her mother’s career, leading her to encounter a distant and an unpleasant childhood. Meredith’s father, Thatcher Grey, was driven away after discovering Ellis was having an affair with Richard Webber, a fellow surgeon. Thatcher abandoned Meredith and moved on to another family. Ellis later tried to commit suicide after her affair ended abruptly, but Meredith saved her life. Later, when Meredith was in her early twenties, her mother was diagnosed with an early onset of Alzheimer’s, and she was the only one who knew and could take care of her. …show more content…

Her skills of surgery are constantly emphasized throughout the entire show. She is an attending general Surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. She is also a Director of the Board, and a Grey Sloan Shareholder. Meredith has stated in the show that her work week consisted of seventy hours, and she also is a full time mom with three children. She constantly works hard by arriving early for rounds and staying extra late. Meredith never has room for error. Once during the show she had a “winning streak”, which meant she did not lose a patient for months. She has a drive to be impeccable, and I hope one day I can be just like
