Mental models and mindsets are the appearances of people’s thoughts for the explanations of working things in the real world. Mental models and mindsets are generated in the human heads as internal images for the neighboring processes. These mental models and mindsets are influenced by several forces, such as social change, physiology, thinking capacity, and mental ability. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the mental models/mindsets and their impact on the two coworkers. I will also identify the four steps to change mental models/mindsets and the five forces that influence those mental models/mindsets of the coworkers. Additionally, I will give examples of what mental models/mindsets are affecting the coworkers’ decision-making processes and analyze the most commonly used mental models/mindsets that guide the decision-making in the workplace.
Mental Models and Mindsets of AAA Transportation
Wind, Crook, and Gunther (2005) stated, “Mental models and mindsets affect every aspect of our personal and professional lives and our broader society” (p. III). Over the years, AAA Transportation has pride itself on transporting wholesale produce in refrigerated trailers throughout the Midwest. Recently, the new owners want to make changes to the service, which add delivery of nonperishable products to their delivery routes to expand service to their existing customers. Adding nonperishable items to the delivery would benefit the customers at a lower rate of what they are paying now. With the new idea, the company could expand its delivery area outside of the Midwest to other States. Thus, bringing in more profit, which could be one of AAA Transportation’s best ideas yet.

Conclusion
In the business world, it can be difficult to get out of mental models and mindsets because sometimes they can help us move forward and sometimes they can hold us back. It is imperative to look at the decision from every angle to change our mental models and mindsets. However, to use the models and mindsets properly, we need to understand and appreciate their benefits. I hope that Vernon and Bud will seriously consider all angles of this new idea and come onboard with the rest of the team. By doing so, will be a win win situation for both AAA Transportation and the two coworkers.
