The year was 1979. A corrupt government in disarray. Widespread poverty the country. One man, Maurice Bishop chose to take a stand. A stand that would forever change Grenada. Bishop was considered a great leader, he created a revolution strong enough to overthrow the old corrupt government and build a new, better one. On May 29 1944 Bishop began his life in St. George, the capital of Grenada. As his Parent’s only son they expected the best of him. These expectations and his hard work led to his great success in school. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born at noon on January 15, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee to the Reverend Martin Luther King and Alberta Williams King. Martin Luther King Jr. spent the first twelve years in the Auburn Avenue home that his parents shared with his maternal grandparents, the Reverend Adam Daniel Williams and Jennie Celeste Williams. When Reverend Williams passed away in 1931, Martin Luther King Sr. became the new pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church and established himself as a major figure in both state and national Baptist groups. Martin Luther King Jr. later attended Atlanta’s Morehouse College from 1944 to 1948 during his undergraduate years. During this time, Morehouse College President Benjamin E. On April 4, 1968 shortly after 1800 hours, Martin Luther King Jr. was fatally shot while standing on the hotel balcony of his second story room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee (Saferstein, 2014). King was in Memphis to support a sanitation workers strike and was on his way to dinner when he was shot in the head and neck area. King was rushed to a Memphis hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after 1900 hours. Martin Luther King Jr. was only 39 years old when he was assassinated (History, 2017). In Mr. King’s writing, he creates feelings of guilt in the clergymen’s hearts. In addition, knowing the church is what the clergyman value the most, he accuses the church for not attempting to take a stand on the sinful behavior of the white moderate. Mr. King recognizes this will change their outlook on segregation and inequality. Also, he knows that with suffering comes victory, just as Christ Jesus had to endure. In addition, he believes that Jesus is the most influential spiritual being known to the clergyman. Mr. King brought to their attention that he is an extremist just like Jesus. His view toward the clergyman is if he is to die for the sake of his beliefs, at least he will die with dignity.

His father, Earl Little, was an outspoken Baptist minister and avid supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. King attended segregated local public grammar schools in Georgia and graduated from high school at the age of fifteen after being skipped two grade levels. King then enrolled at Morehouse University in 1944 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Who was born Alfred Charles Sharpton, Jr. Al Sharpton was born in Brooklyn, NY to his father Alfred Sharpton Sr. and his mother Ada Richards when his family moved he was then raised in Queens, NY. In 1954 He soon began to start developing a speaking style as a child he then started preached his first sermon at the age of four called, “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled” at Washington Temple Church of God with an audience of over 800 people. Soon after that he then toured with gospel singer Mahalia Jackson who took interested in his unique speaking skills. At the age of 7 Al Sharpton first heard of the struggles with racial issues through the stories that his grandfather would tell him of how he was beaten by white men for simply standing in there way and not walking on the other side of the street.

The island established a government, led by Sir Eric Gairy, and he gradually made the island totalitarian, which in turn led the citizens to revolt. In March 1979, while Gairy went to New York to meet with United Nations, a man named Maurice Bishop, a respected member of society, led a coup take over control of the Government in Grenada, and succeeded ("The U.S. Invasion").

The history of the United States has in it much separation or segregation due to race. For a long time our country has seen racism as a large problem and this has caused ethnic groups to be looked down upon and forced into a lifestyle of difficulties and suppression. Due to this, races, particularly African-Americans, have been forced to deal with unequal opportunity and poverty, leading to less honorable ways of getting by and also organizations that support change. Malcolm X is one strong example of an African American man who became apart of a group acted against it, uniting people to promote the advancement of colored people and change. Malcolm's thoughts towards race and civil right in the previous years were displayed in a less way to the people and "by any means necessary" perspective. After his pilgrimage in 1964 his view of civil rights had quickly changed into a more complete view of civil rights, and the peoples views towards him. No one really knows what kind of impact Malcolm X would have had on history if he had not been assassinated. His beliefs and philosophy did gain him a place in history as one of the best-known Black Nationalist Leaders. Everyone seems to have known who Malcolm X was, and he ranks high with all other Black leaders. His ideas were radical and he was very out spoken. He was a major force in the development of black history. He fought not only for his people but also for all oppressed people everywhere. He was well spoken and he laid the groundwork for the black power movement of the late l960's.

In fact, the first words of the writing state “Of course I was religious. I grew up in the church.
