Malala Yousafzai Hero

On July 12th, 1997 a baby girl was born to Ziauddin and Tor Pekai Yousafzai, in Mingora Pakistan. Her parents would then name her Malala, which has the meaning “Grief-Stricken”. This meaning could not apply more to her character today, as she has been a strong advocate for how sad the condition of women’s education is since she was very young. In the year 2012, Malala Yousafzai would become known worldwide as a hero for her stance on women’s education. When you review Malala’s life (so far) it can be noticed that it meets all of the requirements for her to have the title of an everyday hero.

One of the criteria of an everyday hero is that they are not born a hero, but are deemed one by society. Yousafzai was not born a hero, but rather became one when she survived being shot in the head by a member of the Taliban on her way to school. She amazed the world as she fought for her life, as it was highly unlikely she would survive. However, she managed to make a full recovery, causing people from around the world to rally and support her. She was shot in the month of October, and her injuries did not heal completely until after January. During her long recovery period, Yousafzai gained a large amount of notoriety which lead to her creating the Malala Fund. The Malala fund is a charitable organization she co-founded with her father, Ziauddin, and it raises money and awareness for girls education. Her life will never be the same as now the majority of the world knows her story and her name.
