Two forms of evils came from the Inquisition. At this time “witches” roamed the Earth and a global witch hunts began. To see if someone was a witch they would be tortured and eventually killed, which is one of the evils. The second evil is the creation of violence towards women. The witches that were tortured were mostly women. After the Inquisition, the action of abusing women continued, but the abuse was just seen as the new cultural norm. Lucifer Effect Zimbardo asked a question, “What makes people go wrong?” He stated that evil is part of human nature. I believe everyone has a predisposition to do wrong or evil, but it is up to the social factors to either inflate or minimize the amount of evil, which is one part of Zimbardo’s Lucifer …show more content…

In the Abu Ghraib, it took one military police officer to cruelly treat a dysfunctional inmate to create the mass amount of humiliation done by the officers. When they all began to conform to the characteristics of the first officer, I do not believe they were consciously aware that their “fun” was actually cruel because the Iraqis were dehumanized and labeled as terrorists. Outsiders Perspective The Stanford Prison experiment and the Abu Ghraib prison share a similar trait, which made both of them come to an end. In both cases it took an outsider to see the wrongs that have occurred. I do not believe that people think certain deviant actions are wrong until the act is labeled wrong by an individual who is observing the actions. Obedience Sheridan and King’s experiment makes me question how people can continue to deliberately shock a puppy to get a passing grade, but not have power to confront the authority figure to stop the experiment. The results of the experiment also shocked me. One hundred percent of the females in the test gave the puppy a “lethal” dose electricity, but after they administered that dose, some responded by making statements such as, “I am going to tell the dean.” Why would the females wait until after the experiment to tell on the
