The recent administration and the federal education department have made it easier in order for kids to make their dreams come true on higher learning. Which has the current enrollment rising to record numbers for students, when it comes to first time college students and their parents this is a major relief. There are other options such as scholarships of all kinds, which also help with college funding, especially in low-income families.
Recently President Obama made it a lot easier for those trying to enter college by increasing the amount on Pell grants up to $100 for a income- based student- loan repayment option. Each year hundreds of thousands of low- income students face barriers to college access and success. Along with the lack of resources these students tend to have low guidance and support they need to prepare for college, apply to the best-fit schools, apply for financial aid, enroll and persist in their studies and ultimately graduate. As result, there are large gaps remain in educational achievement between students from low-income families. For the growth as a country we need to make sure everyone who wants an education gets one. The First Lady along with the administration, and the Department of Education engaged with leading experts in order to figure out the barriers that may need to be addressed in increasing the college opportunity. The four key areas where more can be done to promote college opportunity. On January 16th the Administration announced new commitments from colleges and universities presidents, nonprofits, leaders of philanthropy and private sectoring these four key areas.
The Four areas are:
1.) Connecting more low-income students to colleges where they can succeed and encouraging completion once they arrive on campus
2.) Increasing the pool of students preparing for

In “Obama Promotes Plan for College Affordability on Michigan trip,” Michael Shear introduces Barack Obama’s plan regarding reasonable costs for college. Obama expresses his idea that college should be less expensive than it currently appears to be. He is supportive of education, intending to ensure that strong willed people who desire to persevere and have a higher education actually receive it. It is Mr. Obama’s belief that one of several steps toward success in life is education. Announcements made within public places by promoting students or community college is a large commitment approaching his daring plan.

Today’s college students borrow and accumulate more debt than previous years (The White House). It’s no secret that “high priced real estate increases property taxes,” (Source G) and those taxes go on to fund public schools, bringing in more affluent families. Low-income students in these schools find themselves surrounded in an environment where “classmates expect them to go on to college,” (Source G) in turn making these students more academically engaged. In addition to the positive environment, low-income students who attend more affluent schools are given access to critical support when it comes to submitting applications to elite colleges. Issues such as land usage, lack of employment, internal conflicts, poor education, and racism are well known factors of poverty. In the past decade, many college students have fallen into poverty. There’s a lot of issues that go beyond this topic, many people wouldn’t think College students could end up in poverty. Because, either those college students get scholarships or financial aid but, none of those could support a college student.
