1) What is computer? Discuss its features, uses and limitations Computer is electronic device that is design to work with a set of instruction. The term of computer are derived from the Latin term 'Computare', which is means a programmable machine. Furthermore, the first mechanical computer was called Analytical Engine and it designed by Charles Babbage. Thus, Charles Babbage are recognized as the "grandfather" of the computer. The Mechanical computer (Analytical Engine) uses ROM (read only memory) in the form of punched card. (DINESH THAKUR) Computer is an advanced electronic device and consist powerful components to enter data and instructions. The next is electronic device will process these data with control a set of instructions which …show more content…
We can use the word of "Versatility" to describe the computer due to it is absolutely wonderful things in the world. Multi-processing features of computer made it become quiet versatile in nature. In a moment, computer can be preparing a lot of result from your request either can prepare more than one thing in one moment. For example, when you preparing the results of stuff attendance rate, the next moment you want to preparing financial report, and in between it computer may be can helping an office secretary to trace an important letter in seconds. Computer can easy to perform different types of tasks. Precondition have a genius to control and inspect the database. Briefly, a computer is capable of performing almost any task provided that the task can be reduced to a series of logical steps. (Blogger, …show more content…
In a computer system, hardware is physical equipment are directly related to performance for data processing and communication device, such as the CPU, memory, and peripheral device. Apart from hardware exist, the software has most important thing in computer system. Software is the codes and instructions to control the operation of the hardware and software, such as Microsoft Windows and Internet browser. In case of one broken or not function and another one would not useless. That mean without one the other would not exist. (Andrew, 2010) Both hardware and software are an main components of all digital electronic devices like computers, cellular systems, satellite systems etc. These computer related the combination terms work to let computer's function in good condition. The components of computer that have physical existence and touchable which is hardware while software are those programs that run on hardware and can't touch and see due to it would run very fast. No doubt, both components have their individual identity and specific function, but it is the fact that without any component other is useless. Therefore, to make a system operational, it is very necessary that both hardware and software support each other to run a program. (Andrew,
1. A device is a computer if it has an input device, central processing unit (CPU), internal memory, storage, and an output device.
Windows hardware’s has played a vital role in current technology of computer era. Computer application has significantly changed the workloads and manual records and information keeping has been significantly managed easily. This has been tremendously associated with the respective improvements with the software and hardware application development and Windows Xp and windows 7 have been most powerful operating system used by many computer applicants and users.
In previous years, the first computers were mechanical, not electronic. One of the first computers ever made was the Difference Engine, designed by Charles Babbage. (Babbage, C, n.d.). The Difference Engine was able to calculate polynomials using the differences method. After the Difference Engine, Babbage began his work on an improved calculating engine, the Analytical Engine. The Analytical Engine used punch cards to operate, just like the Jacquard Loom. The Jacquard Loom used punch cards to control weaving that created interesting patterns in textiles. The punch cards were used in the Analytical Engine to define the input and the calculations to carry-out. The Analytical Engine had two major parts. The first part was the mill, which is similar to a modern day computer processing unit, or a CPU. The CPU is the brain of a modern day computer; it is what carries out modern day instructions inside a computer. The mill would execute what it received from the store. The second part was the store, which was the memory of the computer. “It was the world’s first general-purpose computer.” (Babbage, C, n.d.)....
Social media proves time and time again that it can be a very successful tool for helping to grow and expand a business, when used correctly. However, there are many limitations to using social media that need to be taken into consideration. One of the limitations is that companies struggle to determine how their social media platforms are generating sales and profits based on their likes and followers. The ability for a company to identify a concrete methodology to evaluate the success of their social media programs is difficult for most companies and even though who had invested time and resources into assessing this key performance indicator still understand that the methodology used is not necessarily providing them with concrete impact (Sandilands, n.d.). Due to the fact that it takes time for the likes and followers to grow and form a substantial
A computer program is executable software that runs on a PC or computer system (Christensson). An executable file is a type in a computer file that runs a program when it opens (Christensson). Software is the instructions tell the computer what to do (“Software”). Software is the entire set of programs, procedures, and routines associated with the operation of a computer system, including the operating syst...
Without the computer hardware I won’t be able to use the computer software for example I use monitor to be able to see and access my data, (edit it).
Software - the programs or language that controls the functioning of the hardware. Table of contents - a section on a CD that lists the locations of files to help a computer locate data.
We live in a world where the internet lays a pinnacle role in our day to day lives. The internet is used globally and can impact the world in many ways. Firstly, what is internet? Well internet is a computer network which globally providing a wide range of information and communication services.
There are many different beginnings to the origins of computers. Their origins could be dated back more than two thousand years ago, depending on what a person means when they ask where the first computer came from. Most primitive computers were created for the purpose of running simple programs at best. (Daves Old Computers) However, the first ‘digital’ computer was created for the purposes of binary arithmetic, otherwise known as simple math. It was also created for regenerative memory, parallel processing, and separation of memory and computing functions. Built by John Vincent Atanasoff and Clifford Berry during 1937-1942, it was dubbed the Atanasoff Berry Computer (ABC).
Computers date back all the way to 300B.C. with the invention of the abacus. This was a calculating devise to do math and it made the people of that time lives a lot easier. That is what the computers of today do but so much more. I will start at the basics of computers while trying not to boar you. The first real computer that actually made calculations was the ENIAC that was made by the government in 1943. It costed $500,000, weighed over 30 tons, had 19,000 vacuum tubes, and consumed almost 200 kilowatts of electricity (computer chronicles 8). Now we have advanced to laptops that are one inch thick and 15 inches wide and can do a lot more than the ENIAC could. There have been thousands of advancements and new technology in computers in the last ten years but I am only going to skim the tip of the iceberg.
Softwares are instructions, commands, or data that direct the operation of computer systems. Hardware is the physical aspect of computers, telecommunications, and other devices. Hardware such as electronic circuitry and other components of a computer use software or programs to make technology do things. Hardware is permanent and not flexible, while software or programming can easily be varied and modified. You can put an entirely new program in the hardware and make it create an entirely new experience for the user. People can change the modular configurations that most computers come with by adding new adapters or cards that extend the computer's capabilities.
Nowadays it is considered close to impossible and practically useless to operate hardware without software and vice versa. Therefore one can consider hardware and software to be dependent on each other.
The fist computer, known as the abacus, was made of wood and parallel wires on which beads were strung. Arithmetic operations were performed when the beads were moved along the wire according to “programming” rules that had to be memorized by the user (Soma, 14). The second earliest computer, invented by Blaise Pascal in 1694, was a “digital calculating machine.” Pascal designed this first known digital computer to help his father, who was a tax collector. Pascal’s computer could only add numbers, and they had to be entered by turning dials (Soma, 32). It required a manual process like its ancestor, the abacus. Automation was introduced in the early 1800’s by a mathematics professor named Charles Babbage. He created an automatic calculation machine that was steam powered and stored up to 1000 50-digit numbers. Unlike its two earliest ancestors, Babbage’s invention was able to perform various operations. It relied on cards with holes punched in them, which are called “punch cards.” These cards carried out the programming and storing operations for the machine. Unluckily, Babbage’s creation flopped due to the lack of mechanical precision and the lack of demand for the product (Soma, 46). The machine could not operate efficiently because technology was t adequate to make the machine operate efficiently Computer interest dwindled for many years, and it wasn’t until the mid-1800’s that people became interested in them once again.
A computer is a combination of several parts. These parts are Random Access Memory (RAM), a Central Processing
computer architecture Computer architecture covers the design of system software, such as the operating system (the program that controls the computer), as well as referring to the combination of hardware and basic software that links the machines on a computer network. Computer architecture refers to an entire structure and to the details needed to make it functional. Thus, computer architecture covers computer systems, microprocessors, circuits, and system programs. Typically the term does not refer to application programs, such as spreadsheets or word processing, which are required to perform a task but not to make the system run.
