The West Gate Las Vegas Resort and Casino is a hotel and casino in Las Vegas on paradise road. Before the name changed it was known as International Hotel and was known for many years as the Las Vegas Hilton. Then it was known as LVH Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The Las Vegas hotel history begins with Kirk Kerkorian, who was an Armenian American business man, investor, and philanthropist. He built world’s largest hotel in Las Vegas three times. One was the International Hotel opened in 1969; the other two were the MGM Grand hotel in 1973 (which is now known as Bally’s) and MGM Grand in 1993. Kirk Kerkorian was born on June 6, 1917 in California Fresno and died on age 98 on June 15, 2017 in Beverley Hills, California. He was a self-made tycoon. …show more content…

When it opened on July 1st 1969, the thirty-story International, with 1,512 rooms, was the world's largest hotel. Its gaming area, at 30,000 square feet, was also the largest casino (International Hotel). This hotel was the first hotel in Las Vegas that offered where kids enjoy swimming, field trips, and other activities while their parents were playing or gambled. Another great innovation was restaurants with specialized cuisines such as Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, and German (International Hotel). The International Hotel was also become famous by having a show room available for the singers who were famous back in that time. Elvis Presley chose the Venue for his comeback showcase. Elvis successfully debut as a singer in Las Vegas and become a first entertainer who made money from performing the show. His tickets exceeded 2 million at International Hotel. Even though, there was a many visitors came to International, Kirk had to pay debt and he sold half of his interest to the International and rest to the Hilton Hotels. After International changed to name to Las Vegas Hilton, the business got better and better. In the 1980s, Las Vegas Hilton becomes highest grossing convention hotel in United States.
