The death of Kurt Cobain has remained a mystery since his premature death on April 4, 1994. There have been many speculations as to how Cobain really died; some say he committed suicide, overdosed on heroin, and others say he was murdered. Some people don’t even consider the possibility of murder, and there are others, like a private investigator and former police officer, Tom Grant, who was hired to locate Cobain, who firmly believe that Courtney Love, Cobain’s wife, had her husband murdered. Even the couple’s family friend and entertainment attorney, Rosemary Carroll, believed that Cobain didn’t choose to end his own life. One of them being the book, Love and Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain, explaining in depth why Love had Cobain killed and how she committed the murder. The authors, Wallace and Halperin, conducted interviews with Grant to gain understanding about the subject. My second source is the web site created by Grant himself, http://cobaincase.com/; he was directly related to the case, and from the beginning believed that Love played a huge role in the murder. Considering he was the private investigator and was at one point helping Love, then quickly realized she was hiding something, and turned against her is rare in the work of private investigators, and it suggests that the situation was deeply troubling. There have been many people who have supported Grant in his belief and who consider him to be an honest, trustworthy man. The source was definitely informative and would help greatly in writing a piece of academic writing. My third and final source is a docudrama, Soaked in Bleach, directed by Benjamin Statler.
