Kurt Cobain Kurt Cobain was a famous punk rock musician, who became an icon, during the late 80’s to early 90’s. He is one of the most controversial artists of all time and most known for creating a famous grunge band known as “Nirvana” that forever changed the course of music. Cobain became a spokesperson for a generation, as well as, created a dividing line between early Baby Boomers and Generation X-ers. Kurt once made this powerful statement, “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not”. Growing up in a broken home where sturdy spirits of alienation was abound, music became his true escape. Punk rock’s rebellious nature, was the total appeal and inspiration, for creating Nirvana in 1987. He gave the band that name since it means a place of perfect peace and happiness, like heaven. This is also the highest state that a person can achieve; a state of clarification, where someone’s desires and suffering goes away. Nirvana reached number one on the charts with multiple hit songs, including the album “Nevermind”.
