What's the deal with reality television shows. For years they have dominated television, turning nobodies into millionaires and placing unrealistic dreams of fame in the minds of America’s youth. On the show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” the stars of the show act stupid, selfish, and disrespectful, yet still gained fame and fortune, making it seem okay to be a complete narcissist. Most of the people who are watching these shows don't know that they are mostly fabricated with cast reciting script and are edited for hours by producers before they air to increase drama and ratings. These shows are considered to be “reality” because the people they depict are real, not because the situations are real. Some of these shows are performed by hired actors in fabricated situations. The show “Airplane Repo,” depicts the story of two men, who as a team, try to repossess airplanes from the owners who have defaulted on loans. Fans of this …show more content…

“Shark Tank” portrays the story of groups of people who try to sell their ideas to a group of investors. When watching an episode, the viewer sees only a short meeting that lasts about ten minutes in which a deal is either made or crushed. In reality, these meetings last hours but the producers shorten them to keep them interesting and to capture only the best bits for the final segment. But during the editing process of reality shows, the producers will also form controversial conversations out of phrases and words that were said at different times during the meeting, thus creating a situation and drama that never occurred. Sometimes the producers will find a potentially insulting comment from the sharks and combine it with a random clip of someone acting insulted or mad because it keeps the show interesting for the viewer and will keep them watching.
