Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s Analysis
I watched the episode “Trouble in paradise” episode 12, season 6 of Keeping up with the Kardashian’s. This is not the only episode I have ever watched with them, I have seen many others but this episode in particular was just one that stood out. Kim, Kylie and Khloe Kardashian really put themselves out there as rich unintelligent spoiled brats, which makes others believe that women who may be wealthy are going to be unintelligent and ungrateful just like them. The kardashians make other women look bad and represent women poorly who may be rich and famous. In this episode Kendall and Kylie stir up drama with their older brother Rob. They make him feel upset and insecure because he doesn’t have a career yet because he doesn’t know what he wants to do and they think it’s pathetic because he’s 28 year’s old and unemployed. While all this is happening kim is being the usual drama queen she is and fighting with her boyfriend Scott on their trip in Bora Bora.

The beginning days of television depicted stereotypical mothers cooking and cleaning their homes for their husbands and children. Yet, as the decades passed, television took a dramatic turn, leaving the days of drama free entertainment as a vast memory. Now a day, however, when one hits the power on button to Bravo, the screen lights expand to ritzy socialites dealing with their everyday lives as “housewives”. Bravo TV’s hit number one reality television show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, deals with the everyday lives of modern-day housewives. When speaking of these women and their family life, the reality series shows its viewers that family life in modern times is dramatic, full of misrepresentations of how people are perceived, and that fame comes at the cost of family.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians is a stereo-typical reality show that focuses on attention grabbing antics and high impact drama. When “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” made their debut, it brought something new to the table of reality TV causing the viewers to go wild. While the Kardashians audience consists of middle age to adult women, there are still a large amount of fans that are men. For instance Farrah Abraham, who in the show is usually seen boy hunting, fighting with her mom and sister, and nearly neglecting her responsibilities as a mother (find specifics). She lets her daughter “do her own thing while she does hers” Her life after 16 & Pregnant isn’t much different. . “Over the past year-and-a-half, former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham has released two adult films, been booted from ‘Teen Mom’, appeared on Couples Therapy (solo), hawked a line of sex toys, and been criticized for not taking care of her daughter, among other things”. (Majesk) But the thing about Farrah is that she doesn’t regret it at all. Farrah can be seen as the antithesis to Maci. In recent years she has used her popularity to make a name for herself instead of helping other teen girls. Recently she debuted as a singer at the 340 Nightclub in Pomona, California, and was cast in the movie “Axeman II: Overkill’’, and is currently working on her “porn career”. “’Jersey Shore’ Season 5 averaged 5.8 million viewers, including one million ages 12-17” (McKay). These one million teenagers who are viewing “Jersey Shore” and other reality television shows fill their minds with the idea that they cannot have a nice time without the consumption of alcohol (McKay). Sexual immorality, violence, and intoxication consume the cast of this reality television show, and unfortunately, most of society. Not only that, but also the general lifestyle of the girls is to compete with each other through materialistic possessions such as clothes, money, or even men (McKay). Another reality show that is affecting viewers, women especially, is “Are You Hot,” in which competitors submit to a panel of judges for appearance rating (Becker). Shows such as this reduce self-confidence in women, making them believe they should be taller, skinnier, tanner, or really anything other than what they already have. “’[The show] emphasizes that how you look is more important than who you are or what you do. It really narrows the worth of the individual,’ Flanery says” (Becker). The more important things about an individual are q...

They seem shallow because of the lack of credibility of reality TV shows, TV effects and how the character’s portrayal of themselves change from scene to scene. In any reality TV show the audience cannot take the events at face value. The event happening and sassy comments made by the housewives have been through hours of editing and are strewn so there will be as much drama as possible in that episode. The show’s use of TV grammar encourages the audience to view Brooks as the villain and Vicki as his sidekick through darkened lighting and deeper music. The effects aid this image to form in the audience’s mind without ever needing to say words. Due to the lack of genuineness between the housewives their entire demeanors change depending on who they are interacting with. The editing of the film highlights their changes of character to contribute to the narrative of the housewives’ weak relationships. The Real Housewives of Orange county is filled with luxury, tears, and drinks being thrown but the underlying issues of deception and hate are emphasized through the narrative demonstrated by the

In today’s society, human beings feel the need to read about other people’s lives in order to be entertained. Rather than taking interest in other activities like reading or the arts, people take interest in celebrity gossip. Society takes an interest in celebrity gossip because it is entertainment for them or it makes them feel better about themselves. Either way, people are reading more on celebrity gossip rather than picking up a good book and reading that instead. Celebrity gossip is not bad since, in a way, it is a form of news, but with gossip websites such as TMZ.com and Perezhilton.com, these websites have no boundaries as to what they put on their pages.
