Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Face does Beowulf qualify as a mythic hero. Beowulf qualifies as a mythic character for many different reasons. Campbell’s stories share a lot of the same topic with the mythic creatures like in the story the belly of the whale. A hero was swallowed and had to find his way out.
