We’ve all had good things right in front of us, but chose to give it up. In Great Expectations, Pip was blind to all the good things that were right in front of him because they weren’t what he wanted. He could have forgotten about Estella, who didn’t want him, and stayed with Biddy. He also could have stayed with Joe because he loved him, but wanted to be a gentleman. And last, Pip was given money and spent it poorly when he should have spent it wisely. Because of his poor spending, he is in debt.
