John Green American Author, John Michael Green, or John Green, is known for his young adult fiction books. He has received recognition for his novels and was included in Time magazine’s list of The 100 Most Influential People in the World. Green’s books have also been published in more than a dozen different languages. He is the author of five bestselling books, and so far two of his novels have been made into movies. However, growing up Green didn’t have any intentions of becoming an author. John Green was born on August 24th, 1977, to Mike and Sydney Green, in Indianapolis, Indiana. His family moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where his younger brother Hank was born. His family moved again, to Orlando, Florida, and here Green attended Lake Highland Preparatory School. Green graduated from Kenyon College in 2000, with a double degree in english and religious studies. After graduation we worked as a student chaplain at a children’s hospital, and originally wanted to be an Episcopal priest (Healy). However, overtime he discovered that when spending time with children, he wanted to pursue a writing career. The first book John Green published, was Looking for Alaska, in 2005. This book was based on the setting of Indian Springs School, where he attended school while VlogBrothers is a video blog channel, with an internet-based show that is hosted by John and Hank. This was the first of many YouTube channels developed by the Green brothers. One of the first projects they launched was the Brotherhood 2.0 Project, which ended all text communication between the two for a year; they would video blog each day instead. After this turned out to be a huge success on the internet, Project for Awesomeness was launched. Project for Awesomeness is a community-driven charity movement. Since their first vlog the brothers have gained one million subscribers on YouTube
