John Adams had a term as a president, as a Federalist, with a Federalist Congress. The most significant thing that Adams did was keeping America out of war with France. Likewise, he made tariffs, an infrastructure, national banks, roads, canals, and he built up the army and made the navy. In addition, Adams wanted industry and manufacturing since England was so successful with their industry and manufacturing he thought it would make the US bounce back up again. John Adams?s father, who also named John, sent his son ? young Adams to Harvard College at age fifteen, and he expected him to become a minister. Thomas Jefferson’s presidential actions are often less remembered than his work on the Declaration of Independence and his other Revolutionary War contributions, despite their impact on how the United States would, literally, take shape. With these laws the Federalists were thought to be stifling the power of the Jeffersonians.
