1. Character Development: Main Character: Jack Harper Jack Harper (Tech 49) is a technician/repairman. From the beginning of the film, Jack is shown to be a guy of curious nature. Though he lives a monotonous life, he doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. But later on, in the film, as you get to know him. You can tell he is a courageous man who has his heart set on finding out the truth no matter what. He acts on his instincts. This shows that he is an impulsive guy. He also tries his best to save his teammate showing that he cares about the well-being of others. His character is developed from a dull guy who lives a monotonous life to a passionate guy who is set on doing the right thing.

Change in the main character: Jack Harper seems to have no clue about his identity at the beginning of the movie. He learns that he was actually an astronaut captures by the Tet. And understands that he has been manipulated. After learning about himself and everything he stands for, he takes charge and does everything possible for the destruction of the Tet. The Jack Harper from the beginning of the movie who seemed to not have any idea about the reality of the situation and had been unknowingly working under the very cause of the destruction transforms to a guy that ultimately ends up saving rest of the humanity.

7. Lack of Narrative Credibility: How were the aliens able to copy Sally's Face and Voice? Sally was the machine Odyssey's NASA admin from earth. In the movie, it was clearly shown that the signal between Sally and the spaceship cut off before Jack and his co-pilot Victoria Olsen were captured by the Tet. How did Malcolm Beech know which part of "The Laws of ancient Rome" Jack read? Though Jack picks the book in the library where the Scavs were present. He read a paragraph aloud from the book in the privacy of his tower. There was no way for Beech to know it.
