was written and completed in 1945. The play was set in the past, as
the play was set in 1912, we know this because the war was soon to
start, and the maiden voyage of the Titanic was to set sail. J.B

most popular authors of his time. J.B Priestly was a social and
political thinker, these are the two aspects that count in this play.

In the play 'An Inspector Calls' there are many times when rich and
poor people clash against each other. The first time this happens is
when the Inspector mentions the death of an ex-worker of Arthur
Birling called Eva Smith. Eva was nowhere near as wealthy as the
Birling and Croft family, see bearly had enough money to support
herself. When the rich and poor do have rare conversations the rich
always talk down to the poorer people. They might not have as much
money but they still have the same rights. The best example of the
rich talking down to the poor people is when Eva Smith goes to the
charity shop that Mrs. Birling works at. Mrs. Birling thought that
Eva's manner was impertinent, the reason for Mrs. Birling reason for
thinking this was that Eva used the name Birling as the name of her
husbands name, Mrs. Birling got threw by this remark and from then on
she dominated the conversation there on.
Throughout the play there are different people that come from
different classes, there are the high class of living and the lower
class of living. The people that had a higher standard of living were
the Croft family and the Birling family. These people could not behave
the same way as the lower class; it was just not acceptable in 1912.

The play "An Inspector Calls" was written by J.B Priestley in 1945, when the British people were recovering from over six years of constant warfare and danger. As a result of two world wars, class distinctions were greatly reduced and women had achieved a much higher place in society. It was due to this and a great desire for social change that Labour's Clement Attlee won a landslide victory over the conservative Winston Churchill. He nationalized the gas steel and electrical industries, established the NHS and introduced the Welfare State. The play was set in Brumley, a fictional industrial city, in 1912.The playwright believed passionately in the left wing perspective and his message is overtly political. He uses techniques such as "dramatic irony" and "direct mouthpieces", which define the genre of the play as non-illusory, to impart his left-wing message.
When the war breaks out, this tranquil little town seems like the last place on earth that could produce a team of vicious, violent soldiers. Soon we see Jim thrown into a completely contrasting `world', full of violence and fighting, and the strong dissimilarity between his hometown and this new war-stricken country is emphasised. The fact that the original setting is so diversely opposite to that if the war setting, the harsh reality of the horror of war is demonstrated.
Our modern day society depends on technology for everything, can anyone imagine a life without their phone or computer? Probably not, social media and other popular applications have become so ingrained into our daily lives. Not only can we connect with people anytime throughout the day but we also have so many useful applications that help us on a daily basis. Thinking back to when I was eight years old, I couldn 't wait for sixth grade because my parents had promised to get me a cell phone, I remember counting down the days till the summer of fifth grade was over because I already knew which cell phone I wanted. Once I got it I couldn’t stop showing my mom all of the cool things it could do. Which looking back at it today, it really couldn
Martin Luther King Jr begins his essay with “My Dear Fellow Clergyman” in an attempt to form a sense of parity between himself and the men being addressed. More ever, he says that he believes that these criticisms are “sincerely set forth” and the men are “of genuine good”. Through this, he applies a Rogerian tactic, where the writer attempts to find a common ground as an alternative to further dividing the sides. His demonstration of equality due to the inter-connectedness of all people is a central idea of the entire letter. He notes that his “secretaries” can’t answer the amount of tedious “criticisms that cross [his] desk” since “constructive work” requires superior attention. In the informational second paragraph, King, “the president
