The isolation period in Japan went from about from about 1639 to 1853.Japan wanted isolate itself from the world because of the dangers they saw from the outside world. For example the Europeans were spreading Christianity and were also trading at the time. Tokugawa, the ruler did not like what the Europeans were doing so Tokugawa decided to isolate Japan. Japan was closed for over 200 years during the “Sakoku” period of Japanese history. During this time, it was illegal for any Japanese person to leave the island or for any foreigner to enter.
The people of Japan wanted to stay isolated so that people would not invade them. Also Japan did not want people to take their religion away. Japan also isolated itself because they didn’t want European
