In this day and age, many things could have positive and negative effects on an individual. One of the more under-rated topics of today’s society is isolation. Isolation is the state of distancing yourself from others. It could be good, but it could also be very bad. When an individual is isolated, they have more time to themselves, and it could possibly help with toxic relationships. Most individuals love their alone time, some more than others. When individuals take a look at the state of isolationism, they automatically think that it is a bad thing, but fail to see the good out of it. Spending time alone is a good thing in most cases. Whether it is a break-up, a bad relationship with a family member, a friend, or whatever the case may be. We all go through tough phases during our lives. Most people who aren’t isolated or don’t have any sort of alone time to themselves most likely do not see the value in having extended periods of alone time. For example, imagine you and your brother are having an argument about money/ financial issues. You are mad because your brother is constantly buying unnecessary items when you both agreed to stick to a budget. At this point, you aren’t having it with him. You have told him a numerous amount of times to watch what he wastes his money on. Since talking to him didn’t work out, you spend a nice, long period of alone time thinking to yourself. You are trying to figure out other ways to make him watch how he spends his money. Can you imagine how much stress that would put on someone? Spending time alone relieves stress in most cases. Although isolation may be good in some cases, it also has its negative effects. Spending too much time alone can lead to extremely deep depression. Not only that, but it affects the mental health of an individual drastically. You can always talk to someone about issues you are having causing that isolation, but what you have to remember is that isolation can cure stress in ways that talking to others about your problems,
