How come I have never seen the Inuit, Haida, and Iroquois in colorado? In Canada, they all have different ways of life, and many similar ways too! The 3 groups, all live in a region of Canada. They have similarities like their location, art, they many differences starting with their food! How are the Inuit, Haida and Iroquois alike? Have you ever thought of that? Well, they all live in Canada all near the ocean! The Inuit live on the Atlantic coast of Labrador, by the sea. The Haida people live on the west coast of British Columbia, on a separate neighboring island. Another separate island is where the Iroquois live, located in southwest Ontario, near the ocean and lake. The Iroquois had very strong beliefs and traditions centered around war. They create art on their longhouses and they also paint faces to represent a war. They believed the paint held magical powers for protection, and made them more ferocious. They believed that their spirits would help them get through war and help them become ferocious so other tribes would be fearful of them. The Iroquois were made up of six nations, meaning they spread or expanded throughout the region. The nations were Oattwa, Mipissing, Algonquin, Malisect, Mi’kmay and Abenaki. All six nations were spread out and were hard to find. However, the Ottawa nation could be found in Ontario. They also had a different name before they were called the Iroquois. They were called Agunchion, which meant that they were “the builders”. The name was picked due to the way they constructed their houses. The Iroquois actually built them from scratch with the resources around them. As you can see the Iroquois have many differences from the Haida and Inuit tribes.
In conclusion, There are many differences and a few similarities between the Inuit, Haida and Iroquois. All three tribes live in a part of Canada and they have similarities like their continent location, utilizing resources in the region they live, having spiritual beliefs and the art they create. However they also have many differences based on their natural resources around the areas they call home, their languages, the beliefs and the art they create.
