Also in Iron Man 3, Pepper Potts develops another key moment of intervention that once again saves Tony’s life. In the final “battle” scene of Iron Man 3 we come to a culmination point where Tony is down, his suit very compromised, and Killian (the villain of this story) is giving his final villainous monologue before he kills Tony - that is until Pepper emerges from the flames previously thought to have killed her, and kills Killian herself ultimately saving Tony’s life. This moment of intervention was one no one expected, as an audience, we all had watched her fall to her presumed death earlier in the same scene, and to have her reappear in the final moments and once again save the hero, it was an unexpected, but necessary move. It is always done so that the woman is put in danger, and the male hero comes in to save the day. Pepper Potts is a great example of this; multiple times in her appearances in the films has she been put in danger as a way to make the situation more intense for the audience since the risks are now higher for Tony. There are two instances in Iron Man 3 where this happens. First, when Maya Hansen pays a visit to Tony’s house and Tony, Pepper, and she are in the living room speaking, a missile is launched at the house. While Tony does save Maya (a past love interest of his), he focuses on saving Pepper, even giving her his suit to protect her from debris. He then tells Maya and Pepper to go somewhere safe which leads to the next time her life is put in danger to anger Tony. When Killian is threatening Tony, Tony does not feel he is a threat, that is until the threat becomes injecting extremis into Pepper. This angers Tony to the extent Killian wanted and “motivates” him to bring the film to its climax. Ultima displays the connection she has with Tony as soon as she arrives, by letting him call her Ultima instead of Grande because Ultima believes that Antonio and she have a connection since Antonio was the last child Ultima pulled out of Marias Antonio’s mother womb. After that moment, both Tony and Ultima grow closer and closer. She and Tony spend much time together either getting herbs for medicines or telling stories to each other. When Tony has dreams Ultima teaches him to read between the lines in his dreams and guides him as he tries to figure out his right place in his family, whether to be a Marez or Luna. Wanting to please both his mother and father at the same time. Ultima also teaches Tony the practices of how to dig up a plant correctly, they must tell the plant what they are doing before taking it away from its home. Teaching Tony to show compassion for the things you take for your own use. Ultima shows sympathy through the people she cured, displaying to Tony that her magic is not evil at all. Malcom comes up to Tony after the meeting and gives him a book to read called “The Greatest Miracle in the World”. Tony isn’t a fan of reading but he ends up reading the book and then every Monday continues to meet with Malcom and they talk about the book or the other books or thoughts Malcom asks Tony to read or think about.
He takes a necklace for his Gina, who is now grown into a beautiful young women and one thousand dollars’ cash for his mother. His sister is very excited to see him, but his mother not so much. His mother knows how he is making his money and is disgusted. She refuses the money he tries to give her and throws him out. This part of the movie shows a small glimpse into Tony’s past. A conversation between him and his sister, reveals that he was in the army with the communists and that is father abandoned them. It shows his deep love and protection for his sister as well as hers for him. He is able to sneak the money to her. Manny makes small comment about how beautiful Tony’s sister has become and Tony’s rage surfaces, instructed Manny to keep his mouth shut and to stay away from his
“Wes was so confused. He loved and respected his brother. Tony was the closest thing Wes had to a role model. But the more he tried to be like his brother, the more Tony pushed back.” (72) Wes then got his girlfriend pregnant 4 times and dropped out of school to help out with her. With multiple arrests for shooting someone and drug dealing. Tony his "so called role model" helped Wes rob a jewelry store and they were convicted for murdering Sergeant Prothero along the way. Tony's motives were right but he never really got across to Wes with leading him in the right direction. Tony tried to push Wes away from the drug game but Wes was to drawn to it.
In the end, Tony plays the role of both hero and villain. His wife, Marcela, represents both the whore and the virgin Mexican-American. The both prove unfaithful: Tony to America and Marcela to Mexico. Herein lays the schizophrenic world in which good and bad coexist across the borders of two emerging world countries struggling for control of land and culture. There’s a price to be paid for such human greed and unrealistic expectations. Ultimately it proves to be a place where virtue doesn’t remain intact and villains abound, even among the good guys!

Tony also stands up against a mob for Florence; everyone wants to punish Florence for "not believing in God" (214) and Tony pushes the crowd away and refuses to give Florence the penance that Florence does not deserve. Although Tony knows that he will be given the "Indian torture" (214), he still speaks up for his friend. Anaya often presents Tony as a dependent character, never wanting to "be away from the protection of [his] mother" (51); in fact, he's so close to his mother that it seems that he's going through Oedipus's Complex. Anaya actually does this to increase the impact of Tony's bravery. One might expect Tony to stay in his undercover bushes when Tenorio is standing so close; however, when Tony hears that Tenorio knows the way to kill Ultima, the thought to warn Ultima supercedes his fear and encourages his legs to pick up and run home (255).
In Bless Me Ultima, Tony embarks on a rocky journey to discover who he is and what he believes. Tony must make the transition from a naïve six year old boy to a mature man. His experiences continually call his basic beliefs into question, and chip away at his innocence. For example, when he witnesses the brutal death of Lupito, he starts to question many ideas; sin, good and evil, punishment, and his faith. He begins to see the world of man as violent and sometimes ruthless, not the friendly, loving world where he had previously resided. He even becomes concerned about his own father's salvation because of Gabrielle's involvement in Lupito's death and begins to see his father as less than perfect. Death continues to haunt him when Narciso, a good man, is killed defending Ultima, while Tenorio, an apparently evil man, is spared. These outcomes are not what he believes should have occurred and yet again, a piece of his innocence is stripped away as he sees life is not always fair. He is beginning to realize that he must define his own beliefs.
This leaves Mel feeling confused and helpless. His feelings of animosity and venomous hatred for his ex-wife are in direct conflict with his original self- evaluation of both being capable of understanding, and engaging in that enigma known as true love. Mel is, in many cases, the Ed of his ex-wife. Whereas Ed engaged in the violent act of dragging Terri throughout the apartment by her ankles, Mel describes, with almost childlike delight, how he has fantasized about playing the starring role in her murder.
Terri considers that what Ed felt for her was love. And then Terri continues with her story. He stalks Mel and Terri, at that time Mel was divorcing his ex wife and living together with Terri. It’s a really complicated situation. Ed gains knowledge of the truth and kills himself with rat poison, but it doesn’t work well at first, finally he kills himself by shooting himself in his mouth.
Tony Stark and Hamlet also have the ability to self-destruct. During the third Iron Man Tony Stark instructs J.A.R.V.I.S. to take him to a rural area because he will not have the power to make it home. This then lands him with a ten-year-old boy and a power suit with no power. This shows his self-destructive behavior because he into issues with the Mandarin people leading to not having enough power to make it back. He also had to rely on the young boy to make it back to California and to his girlfriend (Black).
Instead of choosing not to grant his brothers rest because he cannot use God’s power, he decides to use the golden carp. It shows that little things are able to persuade Tony into leaning towards the golden carp and the river, and away from God. His belief in God is not as strong as it used to be, and that could influence what he will do in the
Another example of the evolution of Tony's sense of good and evil through the utilisation of setting is Tony's own home. To him, his home provided him with warmth and safety. This was due to the people who lived in the house. Antonio's father creates a sense of protection in the home. When Tenorio and his men come to he house to take Ultima away, Tony's father "would let no man invade his home" (pg 123). This gave Tony faith that as long as his father was around, he would be protected. Antonio's mother made home a loving and caring place to be. She would always baby Antonio and give him the affection he needed whenever he needed it. The morning after Tony had seen Lupito killed, Ultima tells Tony's mother not to be too hard on Antonio; he had a hard night last night. His mother puts her arms around Tony and holds him saying he "is only a boy, a baby yet" (Pg.28). The Virgin also makes the atmosphere of Antonio's home peaceful and protected. Tony loves the Virgin Mary because "she always forgave" (Pg. 42). Tony thought she was "full of a quiet, peaceful love" (Pg.42) which she filled the home with. The most important person who contributed to the goodness of Antonio's home was Ultima. She made Antonio feel as though her presence filled the home with safety, love, and a sense of security. When Tony saw Lupito get killed, it was Ultima who calmed him. Whenever he had a nightmare, Ultima was there to comfort Antonio and "[he] could sleep again" (Pg.

Ultima, it seems, is all that is left to believe in, because she has always been truthful, and protective. The vengeance that Tony wants on Tenorio is God?s alone; however, with a new religion following in Ultima?s practices Tony could punish Tenorio if he was still alive, and have vengeance for the deaths of his friends and not be punished for it because Tony would only be killing a witch. All humans must change and because they must, the world they live in, including their religions, must change with them or be lost in time. The Catholic religion failed to change into what Tony needed, and so did the pagan religion, so he stopped belieiving in them; however he saw Ultima?s religion as a new unchartered way that he could create himself. At the end of Tony?s spiritual journey he finds himself lost in a world that is prophesied to end and without a true belief in anything.
Tony saw through the prejudice though, he loved one of the PR's and when the Jets found out, they were ashamed. Tony's love for Maria was so real, he didn't care what happened. He died.Prejudice plagues this world now and forever, as long as there is a difference in people there will discrimination and prejudice.
