The purpose of instructional goals is to ensure the instruction has a particular focus and what students are expected to accomplish in terms of ongoing instruction and differentiated instruction in accordance to particular learning styles of the students by the conclusion of the lesson. Instructional goals are developed based on the state objectives that are simplified in terms that the teacher, students, and parents can understand that specifically identifies what methods or procedures the teacher will implement in order to help students make connections to the lesson in order to attain the instructional goal. Instructional goals are less complex behaviors that are developed based on state expectation of common core standards and learning objectives in order to drive students to take ownership of their learning. First, instructional goals should be visible and assessable because it helps the student to make connections to the learning target and what they are expected to learn more directly in terms of actions. These goals should be demonstrated through writing, labeling, or creating a product based upon set targets. Students are able to speak the language and convey meaning in order for the teachers and parents to assess their performance and development. Visible and assessable goals help the teacher refine instruction and provide intervention based upon ongoing formative assessments of learning objectives. In addition to measurable goals, instructional goals should always be purposeful. Students should be able to make real world connections in order to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills. When these instructional goals or taught explicitly, they should be associated within functional context that will help the students understand the expected behavior and in which experiences it may occur. For example, incorporate students reading and understand the link of measurement by utilizing a recipe. Students will be able to associate food preparation between home and school and understand what form of measurement is utilized in regards to weight, capacity, and
