Surprisingly, this has some truth to it. Research shows that the oldest child has a slightly higher IQ than their younger siblings. This is because parents take time to mentally challenge their first born and take time to read to them. As the other siblings come the parents don’t have enough time and energy to spend to challenge the younger children’s minds. This is because they already had the first baby and it's a case of been there, done that. By the time the youngest comes along the parents are too tired to set time aside for each one specifically. Because of this the oldest gets a higher IQ but only by two or three. The oldest child is also considered to be ambitious, assertive, dominant and disciplined compared to the younger siblings.
