Animals have always been central to my life. It is without a doubt that they have shaped me to be the person I am today. My desire has always been to work with and for animals, so becoming a veterinarian is the key to doing just that. I can’t imagine my working career without animal health being one of the primary drives. I believe I have the intellect, passion, skills and experience to help me succeed as a veterinarian. I hope to be able to pass on my knowledge and experience to educate the wider community on the importance of animal health. Therefore, I believe I can make a real contribution to the profession over my career.

Through my opportunity of raising a lamb, ‘Benny’, I have grasped an understanding of the important influence that people have on the health and welfare of animals. Without people, animals would not have that fighting chance for survival. I often visit my sister’s work at a racing stable, to further my experience in the equine industry. I would assist her with the handling and feeding of the horses and occasionally, administer medications. These experiences have given me confidence in dealing with large animals and assurance that the large animal industry has driven me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. …show more content…

That love between the owner and the animal drew me further into the love of veterinary medicine. This love and mutual compassion for the animals would help me relate to clients. Having the power to not only help the animals, but also to help the people and make them happier, is an added bonus of the veterinary
