Human Trafficking Research Paper

To begin with, my research paper will contain a brief introduction to human trafficking, women or girl trafficking in particular. I will then introduce places around the world where this practice is predominant. My paper will be focused on two major areas of South-East Asia, namely Nepal and India where this delinquency is very much in exercise. The seriousness of this issue and how devastating the consequences of this problem are will be the following idea in the paper. Further, I will make my claim that the efforts shown by the Nepalese government and local citizens, especially awareness programs are just not enough to stop women trafficking.

People, especially women are coerced to move within and outside the borders of their nations for various reasons such as the false hopes of getting better jobs and living a better life style. Human trafficking is also related to the discussion in the sense that sometimes anti-trafficking laws affect migration by using trafficking as a justification to restrict undocumented immigrants at times. There have been instances of multiple one-on-one conversations with the victims and how their lives have changed since. Of the few sources that I have selected to work with my research paper, two main articles by David Feingold and Melanie Abas will be the ones I will be referring to as my primary sources. These articles provide insights into the causes, consequences and remedies to the problem alongside providing us with statistics from credible institutions such as the International Labor Organization. Several health problems that the victims acquired have been brought into light as well. My secondary sources include articles like “Debating Legalized Prostitution” by Janice Raymond – an author and a teacher, where both the pros and cons of legalizing prostitution are discussed. In some other web articles, there have been arguments which state that prostitution should not be any different because people have the rights to do all kinds of things to their body. Further, there have been claims made that legalizing prostitution, like it has been in several European countries, will prevent sexually transmitted diseases, and that the criminal element from the business will be removed. However, Melissa Farley, in her article “The Real Harms of Prostitution” has argued that legalizing the sex industry has not reduced the crime or made it safer, rather it has worked like a magnet for punters and pimps.
