Harper Lee, in To Kill a Mockingbird, presents the theme that to have a will to overcome fear by facing the fear itself.In the story fear is playing a huge role in the story as it affects every single character in the story .Even showing how these characters overcome these fears through them changing Fear is constantly occurring in the story with the children were face up to Boo Radley, when Atticus was fighting for a black man, and when Boo Radley was protecting Scout and Jem. In chapter 4 pg 33 Scout says “"Tin-foil was sticking out of a knot-hole just above my eye level, winking at me in the afternoon sun. I stood on my tiptoe, hastily looked around once more, reached into the hole, and withdrew two pieces of chewing gum minus their outer wrappers." Scout explains to Dill and Jem that their looking at Boo Radley wrong and that they should not fear him. Scout next to the knot hole had received a present from Boo Radley and now she sees another side Boo.
