The blusher had the appearance as if it was applied with a paint roller, therefore leaving a bold stripe on their cheek bones. The punk look did not consist of blending and soft edges. This therefore created a distinct and powerful look. Many would describe the 80’s as “painted” faces. There are two defining elements in the 80’s, the bold eyes and accentuated cheekbones. The era consisted of a more noticeable eye shadow, which consisted of orange; green; purple; fuchsia and blue, and a heavier blush. The colour that was mostly associated in this decade though, is electric blue. The eyeliner was worn in abundance and on the inside of the eyelid. The 80’s are therefore completely opposite of the ‘natural’ look. In the 80’s a mole was also a popular trait to have. Woman managed to do this by either sticking on the mole or by creating on with the help of brown eyeliner. Pink blush was used, this was applied more heavenly just in front of the ears, and ran along just under the cheekbone. This helps accentuate the cheekbones, creating a facelift and emphasis. The woman of the 80’s used bright, glossy pinks, reds and oranges on their lips. The women also applied their foundation a shade or two darker than their natural skin tone and sit everything with their powder. Therefore the 80’s consisted of an unnatural and heavy look. Although the overall look is not natural, the woman kept their eyebrows as natural as possible. In conclusion the 80’s era was extremely popular with contrast and chromatic clashes.
