“...To immigrate is to make an entrepreneurial act. It’s to uproot yourself and perhaps your family and take a risk.” Thousands of people immigrate to America yearly, each with their own stories to tell. Many come for different reasons and most hope for a better life when they get there. Majority has struggled getting their way through life in a new country. My mom was one of those thousands of immigrants who struggled and fought hard to not give up. She came for a better life and risked everything for a stronger future for her family. To begin, my mom was born in Peru and lived with her parents, her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Growing up was pretty hard for my mom because her family struggled a lot with money. Her mom would work countless hours and so would her dad,but sadly it wasn’t enough to sustain the family. Her name was Alicia, and Alicia offered my mom to stay in her apartment that was better than the small room my mom was living in. The place had heating and the bed wasn’t as small as my mom’s old one. Alicia and my mom were really good friends and they both made a pact that they would get through this together. After years of hard work, learning English, going from job to job, and saving up money my mom became a real estate agent. She met my dad and they both had enough to buy a home while still having enough money to send to her family in Peru. In conclusion, coming to America wasn't an easy task to do, but my mom managed to do it. She made enough to take her family back in Peru out of poverty and become a citizen of America. Although she’s “American” my mom will never forget where she came from. She still likes to make Peruvian deserts and food, listen to Peruvian music, and watch Peruvian shows too. My mom’s story on immigration always inspires me and shows me how nothing in life is
