How Is Atticus A Good Role Model

In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, there are many characters. The character that stood out the most to me was Atticus. Atticus’s character reminds me of my father, simply because they are both good role models to their children's. Atticus has shown many times in the novel that he is a good role model to his children. Most of the time, he has to get involved in their situations and tell them what's right and wrong to his children, for example, in the novel, his son, Jem, gets mad at one of the houses nearby them, because Mrs. Dubose had said bad things about his father, Jem decides to break something precious of Mrs. Dubose’s, which was her flowers. A punishment came along that, Jem had to read everyday to Mrs. Dubose. Jem learned a very good lesson from this, also he found out that Mrs. Dubose was addicted to morphine, a deadly drug, making him feel even more bad for what he has done. Atticus is very similar to my dad, he is a good role model. There was a time where the house across from ours was saying bad stuff to us, so I threw apples on their lawn, they got very upset over this, and they told my father what I did. My father talked to me about it telling me why it was wrong to do that, and I also got grounded for 2 weeks. After being grounded, I learned never to do anything like this ever again. If it weren't for my father, I think I would’ve been a bad kid. Atticus and my father are very similar, they want their kids to be good children, so they help us on what's right and wrong.
