Before September 11th, 2001 airports were not as secure as they are today. People were allowed to carry dangerous objects onto planes. Security officers had trouble detecting these objects due to bad training. It now takes more time to go through security and there are more things that need to be checked. Even though airport security has changed in some good ways it has also changed in some bad ways too. A number of these changes would not of had to be made if the education of the security officers and the training was better.

Before September 11th, 2001 security was not as good as it is now. Security struggled finding threats in people's luggage and on them. Weapons such a guns, knives and bombs were possible threats. The security was not very well trained to find these threats. Poor training was due to bad wages. Even though security was not well trained, they also didn't have the technology that we have day. It was likely for a unskilled work force that had little experience to be hired. A concern that was also important was security access. It was very easy for people to get into restricted areas. An example of this is when two agents used fake badges and ID's to access restricted areas. They also got by checkpoints for two airplanes and were able to walk directly onto an aircraft. Before September 11,th 2001 if airport security officers had could received the correct and important intelligence there would be less hijacking and issues on airplanes.( Robert R Raffel) Some of the officers were not trained to deal with certain situations and they didn't know how to handle the attack of September 11th,
