Reading is timeless. A thoughtful and enticing book can inspire endless imagination and thoughts. Reading is limitless. Books can be about anything and the words give the reader infinite emotions. No two books are quite the same, and no two books make the reader feel the same way. Books provide a pathway to escape the real world to enter the imaginative world. Time becomes obsolete while reading. The story is out there, ready to be read, it is only a question of when the reader finishes. The act of reading makes me lose track of time. I can read for hours and not feel as if any time has passed.
What type of books I read have changed over time. In the past I read fantasy fiction, but today my favorite genres are non-fiction and historical fiction. Reading captivates me for a couple of reasons. First, reading is interesting: no matter the book, fiction or non-fiction, reading brings

Non-fiction brings the reader back to a different time and shows perspective from that time period. Fiction takes the reader to an entirely new world with different laws, society, and rules to explore. The power of books to escape reality is their greatest achievement. No one would bother reading a book if nothing is gained. When reading books, knowledge is gained, and a new perspective is opened. Every book comes from a different perspective, every author has had different life experiences which contribute to the diversity of books and subject matter inside. Diversity of thought gives readers new perspectives and new ideas never before considered. Some books are just fun to read and tell an engaging story. In the same way our ancestors sat around the fire pit telling stories of the world, books allow modern humans compare and exchange stories with one
When you read, especially fiction, you experience a broad sweep of human life. You gain access to the thoughts of others, look at history through another person’s eyes and learn from their mistakes, something that you otherwise would not be able to experience.
Over the years, as time passes by I have become to better understand myself and learn what captures and disappoints my attention. As a young boy I would think no books pertaining to school or gaining beneficial knowledge would ever interest me. As I read and learned about different cultures and heard mesmerizing stories of Prophets I became eager to read more along with interesting worldly based novels. Miraculous real life events and interesting action based novels are the only stories that grab my attention. This has been the case for me for some time and I continue to learn and explore to see what else I can find that interests me.
Although a novel is usually fictional most are written off real life experiences and feelings. Novels can enhance the feelings of what realism dumbs down to straight facts.
These two elements go hand in hand. Books bring much more than entertainment of a good story. In the future people could overlook the meaning in books and their qualities. ‘“And what does quality mean? To me it means texture. This book has pores. It has features’” (Bradbury 85). Books in today’s modern world are not as common as they used to be. They have been replaced. Pen and paper used to be the only way to get ideas spread. Now, books are only used if one has to. They are not valued like they used to be. In the future, this problem will only become greater. People will overlook all the importance and meaning an actual book has over a movie or play. A book leads the mind to explore and imagine. Books lead the reader to illustrate the story in their own way, and expand their thoughts. Books give time for one to understand and think about its meaning. ‘“Oh, but we’ve plenty of off hours.’ ‘Off hours yes. But time to think? . . . You can shut them, say ‘Hold on a moment.’ You play God to it’” (Bradbury 86). People will continue to overlook the benefits of a book. A reader can put the book down and think about what they just read. Books can go anywhere and do not depend on internet connection. Unlike in a television show, where the viewer watches time go by and doesn’t think twice about what they just saw. Books also can influence someone to act and make certain decisions. ‘“Number
Ever since I was a child, I've never liked reading. Every time I was told to read, I would just sleep or do something else instead. In "A Love Affair with Books" by Bernadete Piassa tells a story about her passion for reading books. Piassa demonstrates how reading books has influenced her life. Reading her story has given me a different perspective on books. It has showed me that not only are they words written on paper, they are also feelings and expressions.
In “Why Do We Read Fiction?” by Robert Penn Warren he expresses that fiction can be a valuable asset to our lives. This is an asset to us because it allows for us to have harmony and simplicity in our lives. Fiction does this by presenting to us new beliefs and views that we have yet to experience, giving us clearer or new views or beliefs upon various topics in our life.
Although non fiction is something that actually occurred in history or in a person's life, fiction gives an author's creative options to explore and
Arp and Johnson are correct, “Literary fiction plunges us, through the author’s imaginative vision and artistic ability, more deeply into the real world, enabling us to understand life’s difficulties and to empathize with others.” To have that ability to understand and share the feelings of another through words on a paper is powerful. You see the truth through many authors’ eyes and make the scenario in your mind only wanting to understand every aspect of what’s going on and what’s going to happen and after you come out in the oddest way with this new visionary on things after just reading something so small.
Fiction allows writers to share bits of their personal experiences and cultural beliefs and values through made-up characters and plots. Readers can understand the world better when they choose to read literature that is bursting with a diverse amount of first-hand cultural knowledge . People naturally like to surround themselves with ideas and people that resemble them and
I love reading and fiction in particular is really neat. Nothing has to be true, it’s like you’re in a whole other world. Besides reading pleasure and enjoyment, fiction provides a lot of things for our society. Fiction can show results of what our world could turn into in an over exaggerated way so that a point is proven about what we easily could become. Because of this, fiction teaches us lessons that we might not be able to learn in our regular lives.
I read because it brings me pleasure and because I never want to stop learning. Recently I have been reading a lot of multicultural women's literature and Victorian medical textbooks.
As I mentioned earlier all my experience with books and reading were not bad. I was in middle school when I read two books that I really captivated my attention. One was a biography of Harriet Tubman and the story of the Underground Railroad. I admired Harriet Tubman for her selfness and dedication to freeing slaves.
The book 1984 was very interesting to me because it was the firdt book i have ever read like it. The book takes place
The authors of Literature communicate things personally to us, one individual to another. This can help to validate our personal experience first time, it helps to have books written by people who have been there before.
In the contemporary era, if you don’t have any desire or need for information, there will be no good future for you. Life is very much pre-determined. Books not only increase your intellect but also influence your reading and writing skills. Books can be read again and again as they are the most credible and precious media of mass communication.
