Before World War one many countries had diplomatic relationships with other countries. The President of the United States Woodrow Wilson wanted to apply his own treaty called the 14 points. He wanted to make the world a safer place. He believed the treaty of Versailles was made to destroy Germany but his plan was ignored by the other World Leaders. The World powers could not fully come on two an agreement which caused the United States to not join the League of Nations with the other countries. Germans did not trust their government which helped give power to Hitler’s “National Socialist German Workers Party.” Also known to most as the Nazi Party. The reason that Hitler could rise to power was because the treaty of Versailles humiliated Germany and its people. Germany was in a major economic depression and they still had not forgotten how they were obligated to take full responsibility for starting the war when more than one country played a part in causing World War One. Hitler promised the Germans that he would overturn the treaty of Versailles, stop the reparations Germany was paying, he would build-up the military once again, and would bring pride to Germany once again (Weiner,2016). The problems that Germany faced which caused Hitler, along with so many other Germans, to cause conflict once again was caused entirely by the treaty of Versailles. Woodrow Wilson, our 23rd president, became involved in a war that he did not want any part of. Wilson wanted to remain neutral and have peace as in his first term of office. During World War I Wilson’s roles in the war became well known in all countries. Wilson wanted peace more than anything else. In seeking for peace Wilson asked Congress for the U.S. to enter World War I. which may not sound like a peace strategy but Wilson felt it was the only way to stop Germany and gain peace. When the peace processes were to start after the end of World War One, there were four people who were major components in the treaty of Paris: Clemenceau, George, Orlando, and Wilson. Clemenceau wanted revenge on the Germans by punishing them through the treaties because he believed that they were at fault for the war; George was in agreement with Clemenceau although he did not feel that Germany should suffer severe punishment; Orlando who wanted the irredenta to be re-established; and President Wilson of the United States of America wanted to create a mild peace with Germany in a fair way. In view of this, Wilson created fourteen points that he wanted accomplished in full as a result of the peace treaties.
