John Proctor plays one of the most significant role in “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller. Proctor was the leader of his hometown Salem, that soon becomes caught up in the witchcraft trials. Proctor loses the leader reputation he obtained in Salem, when he is constantly involved in the affairs of the trials. As oppose to other characters in “The Crucible”, John Proctor changes throughout the play from an adulterer to a protagonist in order to protect his family.
