George Washington as first president of the United States, he would establish an authority with every action. Washington even won a tremendous amount of respect than his previous leadership had earned him. The politics he considered allowed him to appoint the men who would eventually be known as his cabinet. The most well-known cabinet member was Alexander Hamilton the Secretary of Treasury. Alexander Hamilton planned to propose to American creditors to pay a face value of money that they resisted from congress. Hamilton also proposed that the federal government fund the states and take the responsibility since they became independent. During the revolution in France, the Reign of Terror used a guillotine to kill thousands of nobles and their enemies. France declared war on the British in 1793, brought a political issue to the United States. George Washington proposed that he wanted the United States to stay neutral of the war. The Indians and white settlers out west were in conflict with each other. During the Battle of Fallen Timbers, Mad Anthony Wayne defeated the twice victorious Indians of the Northwest Territory at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. After that had followed the Treaty of Greenville, they surrendered a part of Indiana and the southern part of Ohio to the United States. The Whiskey Rebellion of 1791, uprising of farmers in western Pennsylvania protesting the federal excise tax of 7 cents on a gallon of whiskey was easily put to an end. John Adams won the election of 1796 along with vice president Thomas Jefferson. John Adams just like George Washington, faced a possibility of a war, but not with Britain, with France.
