At one age most kids dream about being famous. They might want to be a professional athlete, a big Hollywood actress, or maybe a world famous pop-star. Doing something you love and getting noticed everywhere for it seems fun, right? It can be until you start doing something you love for the wrong reason or become someone you’re not. When you’re fifteen and get signed on a record label you don’t know anything better than to do what they tell you too. When this happened to Alicia Keys she stood her ground and stayed herself. I consider Alicia Keys a huge influence to society because she has always encouraged people to be true to themselves.

Alicia Keys broke into the music industry at the age of 15 with her love of singing and the gift of making people feel something when they listened to her music. When she signed with Columbia Records they wanted to change her into something she wasn’t. They made her believe that she needed to be thinner and wear tighter and shorter clothing. Maybe Alicia Keys didn’t touch everybody's heart by her no makeup movement but I know for a fact that she did connect with some people. Keys not wearing makeup to award shows or being on a talk show maybe could’ve touched one girl’s heart and made her feel more confident about herself. A little act can go a long way for some people. Alicia Keys has always intrigued me with her music and now she is intriguing me with her words too. “I don't want to cover up anymore, not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.” - Alicia Keys. People need realize that they don’t always need to cover things up or act like someone they’re not. People judge and that won’t stop but if you believe in yourself then that’s all you need to do and I think Keys is a wonderful role model to see that quality
