Homelessness, a worldwide issue that many do not acknowledge. According to the last global survey done in 2005, it was estimated that 100 million people were homelessness and in 2016 nearly 1.6 billion out of 7.4 billion lacked the average housing (Homeless World Cup, 2018).
There are many different types of homelessness, primary, secondary, and tertiary. Primary relates to those who are living on the streets with no rood, they are also known as 'rough sleepers'. The secondary homelessness is those who move from home shelter to another, these are the people who live in homeless services, hostels or are couch surfing (Cool Australia, 2017). Family breakdowns usually include mental illness, domestic violence, neglect, overcrowding and generational poverty. When a family is breaking down, the children usually end up in state care and are vulnerable to becoming homeless (Theoasismovie.com.au, 2018). The most common means of how the youth survive is through couch surfing, this allows the young people to have a little security and a roof over their head. The youth usually couch surf with friends and their family. For those of the youth who are not lucky to be able to couch surf must live on the street with no shelter or safety, even though there are shelters available for the youth, there are still on the streets.
There is no timeframe on when someone will become homeless, it is something that will just happen. Homeless people need the help of service to allow them to have a chance at a new life. There are many services out there that help both adults and children from suffering from homelessness. Services like Brisbane Youth Service (BYS) who helps young people start over again. There is also Micah Project: Home for Good, which assists the homeless in finding new places to living and supporting them financially. These services are a must if homelessness is to come to a
