Foam molding is a manufacturing process that creates parts of a product and artefact made out of foam. The foam molding process consist of mixing foaming agent and base resin in melted polymer, creating a mixture that will be injected into a mold, that will solidify and become a part or an object.
History:
In 1872 the American inventors John Wesley Hyatt and his brother Isaiah Hyatt patented the very first injection molding machine. The machine was relatively simple compared to modern day technology. The way the machine worked was like a large hypodermic needle, it was used a plunger like device to inject plastic through a heated cylinder into a mould. The machine could produce everyday objects such as buttons and collar stays. The industry progressed slowly over the years and it expanded dramatically in the 1940s during the post-World War II economic expansion that created a massive demand of inexpensive mass-produced products.
Later on, the American inventor James Watson Hendry created the first screw injection machine in 1946, with the screw injection; the machine was much more precise in terms of the speed of injection and also allowed the improvement in quality of the articles produced. The advantage that this machine also had was the fact that the materials were able to be mixed before the injection which facilitated the task. Finally, in the 1970's James Watson Hendry went onto develop the first gas-assisted injection molding process(figure 1), this new invention permitted the production of more complex commodities such as hollow items that cooled quickly. Eli Whitney (A.K.A the Father of Mass Production) realized unlike the long staple, black seed cotton, which seeds came out rather easily, that only grew on the coast, the green seed, short staple cotton’s seed were not out to release from the fibers easily. He and the manager of the plantation constructed a prototype model in a secret garage. It had four compartments; (1) a hopper which feeds the cotton into the gin, (2) a revolving cylinder that had hundreds of short wire hooks set to match fine grooves cut in, (3) stationary breastwork with pulled out the seeds while the fibers flow through, (4) and lastly, a cylinder set with bristles that got the cotton off the bristles. He got that patented in 1794, but kept working at new things. Taking over 10 years to complete, he created a machine that can create muskets from a pile of musket parts. This is what deemed him the father of mass
The women were using sewing machines. These machines were invented by many different people, but the first inventor to get a patent on the machine was Ellis Howe. This patent was awarded in 1846.
In the 1920’s the United States economy was booming, and a famous man by the man of Henry Ford came along and had an industry changing idea. He set up the first production line style for producing automobiles. Each assembly line worker had one or two specific tasks to complete on the cars that came through. The process began with a skeleton on the car, and as it went down the line from worker to worker it slowly gained more and more pieces finishing the automobile completely...
On December 1st in 1913 Henry first installs the first moving assembly line of the mass production of an entire automobile.
The factory system was the key to the industrial revolution. The factory system was a combination of Humans and new technology. New technology was arriving every day. The greatest invention during this time was the steam engine. The creation of the steam engine was credited to James Watt. There had been other steam engines before James Watt’s but none of them were efficient. Watt’s engine was the first efficient engine that could be used in a factory. The steam engine had the strength of ten thousand men.(Pollard) This was not the only invention that helped the factory system evolve. Textiles were a major product of the Industrial Revolution. Production was slow at first in the factory. In 1764, a British inventor named James Hargraves invented the “Spinning Jenny.” This lowered production time which enabled the factory to produce more per day. In 1773, John Kay, an English inventor, created the “flying shuttle” which lowered the production time even more.(Encarta) If production had not been speed up, the Industrial Revolution would have not had that big of effect as it did in North America.

Over the sequence of the industrial revolution, America was swept with vehement new inventions and ideas. In 1793, inventor Eli Whitney successfully created a cotton gin that separated seeds from fibers, accelerating the production of raw cotton. This invention resulted in cotton becoming America’s number one leading export by the mid 19th century. ("Cotton Gin and Eli Whitney") Around the climax of the revolution, Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanization of rubber. By doing so, Goodyear successfully brought “rubber fever” back to America. ("The Charles Goodyear Story") In the year of 1913, the industrial revolution made a final mark in the united states with Ford’s mass production of the Model T Car. This was the last innovation of the american industrial revolution, after which began the takeover of white collar careers. (Morris)
The contraction moulding method can be used to process an acrylic denture base. In this method, bite blocks are fabricated in the lab and sent to the clinic for patient trial. These are then received from the clinic and teeth are mounted onto the bite blocks. The wax is eliminated and teeth are pressurized and attached onto a gypsum mould. (McCabe and Walls. 2008.) The Factory system was changed forever by the name of one man, Richard Arkwright. Even though Arkwright was not a great inventor, he used other peoples ideas to advocate his own ambitions to the next level. “He was the first who knew how to make something out of other men’s inventions, and who built them up into an industrial system.” (Mantoux 221) Arkwright personally dealt with John Kay’s flying shuttle. However, the invention he patented was not John Kay’s but a more sufficient and effective invention. He worked with the Spinning Jenny, which was invented by James Hargreaves. (Clare 10-13) Arkwrights use of the Spinning Jenny, became the basis on how to use inventions for producing max outputs (Mantoux 224).

Later on in the 1900s, Henry Ford presented the thought of the assembly line, which quickly created vehicles. Henry Ford was the first to start the Assembly lines. The assembly lines were first discovered by Henry Ford in 1913. Henry Ford wanted to make his vehicles available to everyone by, “installing the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. His innovation reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12 hours to two hours and 30 minutes” (Ford, 2014, para. 1).

The manufacturing process of steel container or drum which is also known as liquid carrying container involves many processes. Although, there are different sizes of steel containers and different manufacturing process in most steel container manufacturing industries lately. There are also thousands of different steel alloy used in the production of steel containers. Furthermore, steel containers are made of sheet metal by soldering, brazing, spot welding, and seam welding. In addition to this, The Process of making steel containers involves rolling of metal sheet; welding the seam, making 90 degree bent on top and bottom of the container, making number of beads (according to size) and lastly reduce the diameter of one side of the container; fitting of lid to the containers, testing like pressure; coating internal (epoxy phenolic coating or plain) and external (stoving enamel gloss of various colour).
Extrusion technology which had emerged in 19th century was initially used to blend the rubber scraps and reuse them with an economical aspect. Thomas Hancock had developed the first extruder which was not known as extruder at that time and was rather known as the rubber masticator (GogosC.G., 2006). In later stages, extrusion came as an emerging technology for manufacturing of plastics - mainly, after the development of twin screw extruder in Italy (RauwendaalC., 2001). Along with the plastic manufacturing, extrusion technology had begun to establish its place in food industry with the production of sausages in 1870s.
