Recommended: Captive Killer Whales at Seaworld

One of the animals that amazes and interests me most is the Orca, or killer whale as its popularly known. When a killer whale or Orca le is mentioned, most people naturally think of Shamu and the tricks the orca performs at Sea World. However, there is so much more to these animals. First, the term killer whale misrepresents the Orca. It makes people think they are predators seeking to cause harm to anything or anyone they meet. This could not be farther from the truth. The myth is mostly due to some accidents that have occurred while in captivity. While it is true that accidents have occurred. The truth is they are playful creatures and there was no intent for harm to their trainer to occur. The result is some people thinking Orcas are

The documentary begins as a group of contract fishermen hunt a family of killer whales off the coast of Iceland. They succeed in catching Tilikum, a large male orca, along with two other females, and almost immediately, an important question is raised in the viewer’s mind: What gives humanity the right to incarcerate and separate these animals from their natural environment and their families? As the documentary progresses, Tilikum begins to exhibit frustration and aggressive behavior at the amusement park due to the fact that he is being kept in a small underwater storage container when not on display.
