There are many critics that say football at the high school level is too dangerous. For example, Nationwide Children’s Hospital has published an article that’s cited statistics regarding student player injuries. If a high school athlete is going to undertake the risk of playing football, he should know the possible injuries that he may possibly face while playing football. High school football gives athletes a way to receive a free education by being offered student athlete scholarships, not only for their athletic ability but also for their academics. For many athletes getting a football scholarship is the only way for them to get a college education because they cannot afford to attend a university or college. This gives hope the less fortunate athletes that can rely on their parents to pay for them to go off to college. High school football brings in a good source of income for the school. Schools make money from the tickets sold at the football game. The better the team the more tickets will be sold and the more tickets sold the more money will be made. One of their statistics says that "Although National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football players were twice as likely to sustain an injury as high school football players, high school football players sustained a greater proportion of season-ending injuries, fractures and concussions compared to collegiate football players." This statistic sets off alarms of the readers. But they need to understand that high school athletes are still growing. This makes them more vulnerable to facing a higher portion of season-ending injuries. Playing football in high school is a big risk to the player.
