The next morning, I wake up excited. I jump out of bed, and into the bathroom, where I fill up the tub without any spills. I bathe and brush my teeth before entering the kitchen. Just like yesterday, Cassian sits at the table with a steaming mug of tea. We exchange ‘good mornings’ while he pours me a cup of tea. I sniff the calming aroma as Cassian sits back down before taking a sip and oh god I’m in heaven. I come back to reality just enough to remember what I wanted to ask Cassian about. “Hey Cassian, do you think you could hold a short council meeting today? She begins to speak twice as fast as before, a blur of words spewing from her mouth as Xavier irritatedly sighs. I laugh and ask her about this place and Safie gives me a full backstory of what she and Xavier have done here, with Xavier correcting facts here and there. By the time we make it back to the dinner area, it feels like I’ve spent my whole life here. We settle down at a table and chow down on our dinner. Safie sings a song and Xavier remarks at her lack of manners when Cassian approaches us. “Council meeting now?” He prompts and we scarf down the rest of our dinner in record time before following him into a house that looks like it might fall down any second. He leads us to what seems to be a living room with a few people already in it. There was an elderly lady with her white hair pulled into a tight bun sitting in a chair with her cane by her side, a man with a ponytail at the base of his neck sitting on a couch with a woman who had a mass of curly blond hair and perfect posture, and a bald man with bushy eyebrows sits on the ground comfortably. “So this is Nadine, Xavier, and Safie,” Cassian gestures towards us, “and the man on the ground is Hadrian, the man and woman on the couch is Valentino and Calista, and the lady at the chair is Elder Idella.” Her kind blue eyes gaze at me as I smile and nod, say my hellos before
