Artist are everywhere. Some more famous than others. Each artist has their own story and their own reasons on why they painted some of the art work the way they did and such. I picked Hieronymus Bosch and Pablo Picasso for my artist simulation. Each artist has a dark lonely side to each of them, which caught my attention right away.
Hieronymus Bosch is my “master” artist. He was born in 1450 but no one has an idea of what date because there is no information on this. He was born in Burgundian, Netherlands. His mom was Aleid Van Der Mynnen and his dad was Anthonius Van Aken. Bosch had 2 brothers and a sister. His dad was an artistic adviser to the Brothernou. No one knows much information about him or how his life was. Also, he was the master of surrealism. Bosch was a man who influenced many people in the way he did all of his paintings. He is very famous for his garden of delights. Hieronymus life soon comes to an end on August 9, 1516 in Habsburg, Netherlands.
I chose the Death and the Miser. This piece has a lot of detail and has a lot going on it it. I did a little snip of it because doing all of it would take a very long time and would be a lot of work. He adds so much detail in all of his work and has a lot of shades and tints to give everything more depth. The story behind the painting is the Miser in the death bed and everything else just adds detail to the death. Some detail that is also used is the colors that are used to help give the painting more meaning. I chose this painting because it has a evil tone to it and that gives me excitement how he did something so dark and making it look beautiful. The Nightmare, painted by Henry Fuseli, became an icon of Romanticism and a defining image of Gothic horror (Lebailly, 2016). Some of my favorite writers, for example, Mary Shelley and Edgar Allen Poe, were inspired by Fuseli’s dark painting which led me to choose his work of art for my humanities paper. As I scanned the list you had given us to choose from, Henry’s name lit up with familiarity. In high school, I did extensive research after reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and learned about Henry Fuseli. I began studying his art and I fell in love. I chose Henry Fuseli’s The Nightmare because of its mixture of horror, sexuality, and morbidity.
Hieronymus Bosch was a painter who lived during the Northern Renaissance. He was born circa 1450 CE and died circa 1516 CE. The artist was born in the town of Hertogenbosch that was the capital of the Dutch province of Brabant where bosch Bosch took his name from. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Our Lady, which was a religious group that was spread all over Europe. Many members of his family were painters. Historians believe that either his uncles or his father taught him how to paint. There is little that historians know about bosch’s life and training. Bosch signed very few of his paintings and rarely ever dated them.
My first artist is Rafael Cauduro. Rafael Cauduro was born in capital city of Mexico and now resides in the city of Cuernavaca (state of Morelos) 1950. Rafael started out making superior studies of architecture and industrial design in the Latin American University in Mexico City. According to his biography Cauduro is a self taught painter who steps outside of traditional artist’s standard. Cauduro’s paintings contain a “trompe de l’oeil” (Fool the eye) quality as indicated in by how in his paintings walls, fences, and objects are so real that people can almost touch them. To the visual realism of Cauduros work, according to critic Ruiz Soto, adds what he termed “critical illusion” which combines an extreme technical proficiency with fantasy-filled concepts(www.rafael cauduro.com). Leonardo da Vinci is perhaps the most famous artist of all time. Leonardo da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 in Florence, Italy. He was born out-of-wedlock to the wealthy father, Piero da Vinci, and peasant mother, Caterina. Little is known about Leonardo da Vinci’s early life, but he did receive an informal education where he mastered the subjects of Latin, mathematics, and geometry. As the years, progressed Leonardo became a master of his craft. Leonardo da Vinci pottered in the fields of sculpting, geology, engineering, music, architect, anatomy, cartography, writing, painting, and plant biology. Leonardo da Vinci was the ultimate Italian Renaissance polymath. Some of Leonardo da Vinci most notable works include The Last Supper, The Vitruvian Man, Lady with an Ermine, and Mona Lisa. Leonardo da Vinci worked on dozens of other projects, but with his broad expertise, he was only inclined to finish around six pieces. Arguably, one of Leonardo’s best pieces is the Mona Lisa painting. The Mona Lisa painting is not admired solely for its beauty, but its breakthrough technicality in the art world and its ability to keep the mind wondering what Leonardo da Vinci was trying to communicate to his viewers.
Since the 7th grade, I have been a huge fan of the famous French-inspired realist and expressionist, Edvard Munch. His work is so full of passion and pain as well as shock and sadness. By gazing into the gloriously deep world of emotion he created, art lovers both young and old are amazed and drawn in.
The historical painting I chose for my final, is an illustration of Bret Harte’s novel, Her Letter, His Response, and Her Last Letter, creatively illustrated by Arthur Ignatius Keller in 1905. The historical painting I chose for the comparison of Arthur Keller’s painting is another painting done by Arthur I Keller; illustrated for 54-40 or Fight by Emerson Hough, in 1909. Arthur I Keller is a very natural, elegant style painter, with an eye for natural beauty. Keller’s many paintings express intricate detail, and genuine quality. Although I picked two water color paintings out of Arthur Keller’s many collections of paintings, he also uses charcoal, acrylics, oils, and pastels to create other works of art. In both paintings I chose, Arthur Keller uses water color and gouache to paint people. Arthur’s first painting I mentioned, illustrating “Her Letter” is a more detailed painting. Keller uses water color to create a graceful look to his painting; his delicate balance of color, keeps the viewer’s eyes wandering around the painting. The focal point in the painting does not catch the viewer’s eyes because of heavy, dark colors, but because of the proportion differences of the people he implies. The painting gives off a very old fashioned feel, in a tasteful way. Arthur Keller’s second painting, illustrating “54-40 or Fight” has a completely different color theme, and gives off more of a mysterious, dark feel to it. The painting is detailed, but in a more simple way, and there is less negative space. Art is a very important part of humanity’s history, and it can be found anywhere from the walls of caves to the halls of museums. The artists that created these works of art were influenced by a multitude of factors including personal issues, politics, and other art movements. Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, two wildly popular artists, have left behind artwork, that to this day, influences and fascinates people around the world. Their painting styles and personal lives are vastly different, but both artists managed to capture the emotions that they were feeling and used them to create artwork.

He was one of the best creators and artist. He was born in Vinci, Italy just outside Florence in 1452 on April 15 and then later died at age 67 in Amboise, France, in the year of 1519 May 2. His mother was a peasant woman and his father was a notary. His father took custody of him shortly after his birth, while his mother married someone else. With all the children added up from his two birth parents were a total of 17 half sisters and brothers. Leonardo has long been looked upon as the archetypal Renaissance Man (Richter.) Leonardo Da Vinci was described as a man with “great personal appeal, kindness, and generosity.” He was generally well loved by his contemporaries.
Each drawing. Each painting. Each sculpture. It can give you a glimpse of what is going on in the artist’s head. Take the painting “El Autobus” by Frida Kahlo as an example. It has been said that the painting is in reference of the accident Frida Kahlo had where she got impaled by a metal handrail. The painting is of a bench with people sitting on it just before boarding the bus. This kind of artwork, where the artist puts a little bit of him/her self in it is something I strive for. I want to make art that reflects me, or that means something to me. I don’t want to make something just because, I want it to be where the viewer could possibly see the hard work, the passion, the emotion behind it. Things that most times get

The Joy of life by Henri Matisse because the picture expresses many colors of happiness and explains the personalities of the people in the painting. When you look at the painting it’s a great feeling of emotions, and all the people in the painting seem to be enjoying themselves with everything around them I also noticed when looking at the colors they really speak out to people. There are so many wonderful colors put together it seems he used a watercolor to make them blend together. Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Holland on March 30, 1853. Vincent Van Gogh was born into a family of religion and strictness. His dad was a pastor in town. Van Gogh’s mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, was the daughter of Willem Carbentus. Her dad had bound the first Constitution of Holland. The name Vincent was given to him by his parents because a year prior to his arrival, his parents had had another son whom they tragically lost at the time of his birth. Vincent was the youngest of two brothers and three sisters. Of the two brothers he had, Van Gogh was more attached to his brother Theo. Vincent Van Gogh was brought up in a religious environment. Sometime between the years 1860-1880 he decided he had wanted to become an artist. Before this, he had other jobs that he did not succeed at which included a clerk at a book store, art salesman, and a preacher in the Borinage, a district in Belgium.
