It is never easy to see past the translucent barrier between our personal beliefs and an opposing argument. Personal experiences can close one’s mind off to other arguments. Science fiction gives writers the ability to present arguments without making them personal to the reader. This gives a higher probability that the reader will consider the argument rather than shut it out. Heinlein takes this aspect of science fiction and runs with it. He uses the futuristic aspect of science fiction to stir the mind and beliefs of the reader without offending them. He portrays most of his arguments through the characters, Mr. Dubois, Johnny Rico, Sergeant Zim and many others. Heinlein continuously hits on his argument regarding caring for others
