Narrative Essay: Halloween; A time for building memories. When Halloween approaches, I feel the air becoming cooler and the nights becoming longer. Clouds over lap the moon creating an eerie look in the sky. Children grow more and more excited to put on their costumes, and they spend one night out of the whole year going door to door getting free candy. As I have grown up over the years, Halloween is celebrated differently for me. I always notice that even though it is celebrated differetly the people haven’t changed and that’s what makes it memorable. When we were practically dragging our bags on the ground we would head home and see who got the most candy. My favorite was Reese’s cup. I would go by snagging all of them from my cousin’s bags when they weren’t looking. As they got older we stopped trick or treating. When those cousins were done trick or treating my cousins on my mom’s side were old enough. I decided to go with them and show them how to get the most candy possible! We would all meet at my grandparent’s house and go from there as my grandma passed out candy. We too would come back and see how much candy we collected, and talk about how excited we were for the following year. We would predict what we will dress up as. Once trick or treating was out of the question and we all grew up we changed our plans. One year my family and I decided to go to the Niles Haunted House. This is one of the most well-known haunted houses in the southwest Michigan area. We would go through these scary buildings and the inside was pitch black. You couldn’t even see what was right in front of you. One of the memories from there was a little girl with a baby doll. The girl would not talk. She would stand next to you and follow you from a distance. It was so scary, but a fun
