Many individuals today recognize Haiti, as a country that endured the tragic earthquake in 2010. But, Haiti is not a country that is only known for its loss, but one that has history, culture, and practices. This country is located about 1,000 kilometers from Florida, and lies between 18° and 20°N and 72° and 74° W (Lawless, 2012). The country is between Cuba and Puerto Rico in the Caribbean (Purnell, 2013). The country itself is on the Hispaniola Island, where it shares the island with the Dominican Republic (Lawless, 2012). The country also consists of 27,750 square kilometers, which is close to the size of the state Massachusetts, which is 27,336 square kilometers (State Area Measurements and Internal Point Coordinates ).
