Hello Everyone! Thank you for helping to make this year’s Blue and Gold Ceremony one to proudly remember. With your help, and guidance, our scouts will continue to make a difference in our world, one Adventure at a time. Landyn, we will miss you, and it has been a privilege and pleasure to get to know you and your wonderful family. We wish you a journey filled with much happiness, and good deeds – we know you will always strive to do your best!! Congratulations on this very special day and occasion as you cross over to boy scouts. We are as equally proud of Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelo 1 scouts for earning their Rank Advancement – and may they continue to strive and embrace the Scout Oath, Scout Law and Motto. May our paths continue
Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology for many years. Joseph filled each stage of the journey very well. He accepted all the challenges he got and all the help he needed. He really knew how to fulfill all those stages. Like everyone goes through a heroic journey everyone has to have a story to tell. My story is very contrasty from Joseph’s because he really knew what all the stages meant. My hero's journey consists of my threshold crossing which was when I started depending on myself more than I did on others, my helpers/mentors like my parents, teachers,my sister and many more influential people in my life and my rewards were getting awards in school, having a nice family, and many friends.
Thank you to all of our amazing family and friends for everything you have done. Words aren’t enough to express our love and gratitude we have for you.
I want to thank the most wonderful parents a child could ever have. Not only for the love, support and guidance over the years, but also for everything you’ve done towards today. Your massive contribution has been priceless and without you both we would have never managed and today would not have been possible or so special. Thank you Mom and Dad from the bottom of our hearts. And thank you Virginia for having such a wonderful son.
Assignment details: Analyze the components of the hero’s journey. Basically, support the argument that Jaws follows the epic hero cycle. Name specific examples from the movie and connect them to the hero’s journey. However, this is not a plot summary. You are not retelling the story, but selecting examples to support the analysis.
Class of 2012, as we sit here this evening, I would like you to take a look at the classmates sitting around you. Many students have given countless hours of time, energy, and passion to worthy cuases that they have been a part of throughout high school. However, those aren't the only students deserving of recognition this evening. We have students here tonight, who have taken a stand for what they believe in, not even hesitating to compromise their reputations.
Hello well-wishers, friends and family members, on half of the members of our association, I welcome everyone to this epic-making event; the journey has been long but certainly worth the wait. Thank you for honoring our call, this evening.
The word hero as defined as an “individual who has the courage of conviction to perform feats that benefit the general populace, acts as a soldier of virtue, and has an altruistic spirit that urges him or her to act against evil and defend the greater good at all costs, even sacrificing his own well-being or life.” (Harrison 2). Although heroes can come in any shape and size they are commonly found in stories we read, movies we watch, or people we look up to. We do not think about it much but even our own life is made up of many hero’s journeys. We never realize that our hardships and how we overcome them is exactly what a Hero’s Journey is about and why we relate to and enjoy these stories so much. I am so thankful for the experiences I have had at OLG where I expressed my character and leadership qualities through student council, in the classroom, and at sports at which was one of my favorite middle school experiences at OLG! I am absolutely loving Vis and I have grown as a leader at Vis through being in the leadership crew which has helped me understand and develop qualities to be a positive impact and a leader to my peers. OLG and Visitation have been a places where I have developed good qualities that strengthen my character, and I would be able to further grow in leadership in the leadership training program at camp. Camp is a very special place to me and I would love for you to write me a letter of recommendation as I am completing my application process on November 30th. I completely understand if you are too busy or if you are going out of town for thanksgiving, but if you would like I would love to call you or come to OLG to tell you more about the leadership training
“There’s nothing for you behind you. All that exists is what’s ahead.” Secretariat said this on the TV show Bojack Horseman, and, although it was just a cartoon, this quote had a profound impact on me. It was the motto I lived by in high school. I even wrote it on the wall of my bedroom. Throughout my years in high school, I clung to that quotation, held it and wouldn’t let go. One of the most important things I’ve ever learned is to just keep moving and focus on what’s ahead.
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
December 2016 – We wish you all a very joyous Holiday season!! THE WALTHER family has been blessed watching life unfold in so many exciting ways right before our eyes! The days fly quicker, boys grow and mature more at every turn, their classes are more challenging to understand, and we are excited for what the future holds for all of us. But in hindsight, it’s been another wonderful year!! We have so much to be thankful for – and so little to complain about – though we need to remind ourselves how fortunate a life we have – red or blue state matters not, we’re all lucky to be living under the Stars and Stripes.
First of all, I'd like to welcome all the parents, relatives and friends, on behalf of the senior class. It has been a long, hard road to graduation and I know your presence here is greatly appreciated. My job as salutatorian is to reminisce on our past here at County High, a past that reads like a script of a soap opera.
It was one of the most exciting and nerve racking days of our lives. Although we were finally leaving high school, the feeling of being unsure didn’t go away. The whole day was full of practicing for the big moment when the entire class graduated on to a new beginning. All the girls wore shiny bright red robes and the guys were dressed in a shiny navy blue. Standing there, I had no idea what to expect. Some things I were aware of, my friends were leaving and we wouldn’t be the same friends anymore. My role was that of being so aware of the future that I was too shocked to soak in the present; being a pessimist was my main goal and everything I was sure of became true.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Sitting in the backseat of the car, I used to bombard my family with these questions. On our summer road trips I was so anxious for the destination that I failed to appreciate the journey. However, as time passed and I grew older, I realized that it was the journey that was important and not the destination.
Let me begin by saying that I am very honored to be addressing the County High School Class of 2012 as students of this institution for the last time. We've spent these last four years creating some serious memories: four years of chieftain power, leaking roofs, questionable Homecoming skits, and musical principals. Four years of good teachers, bad teachers, new teachers, old teachers. Four years of youth, music, growing up and breaking free. Four rubber chickens, four yearbooks, four ASB presidents and four chubby bunnies.
