Out of sheer desperation, Lambeau finally calls on Sean Maguire (Robin Williams), an estranged old friend and MIT classmate of his. Sean differs from his five predecessors in that he is also from South Boston and pushes back at Will and is eventually able to get through to him and his hostile, sarcastic defense mechanisms. At one point, Will analyzes a watercolor painting that Sean had done himself and concludes that it reflects Sean's suppressed feelings and guilt over the premature death of his wife. Sean becomes offended and hostile and grabs Will by the throat, threatening to sink his chances for reform, at which point Will ends the appointment and walks out; Lambeau walks in believing that Will has ruined his chances with yet another therapist. However, Sean sees Will as a challenge and tells Lambeau to bring him back each week. In a later session, Will is particularly struck when Sean tells him how he gave up his ticket to see the Red Sox in the 1975 World Series (missing Carlton "Pudge" Fisk's famous home run in the Sox infamous "Game 6") in order to meet and spend time with a stranger in a bar, who would later become his wife. He has them followed so she takes the boys and goes into hiding. The family takes residence in a house where the previous family had been murdered, which they are unaware of at the time. A supporting character, the deputy, is on a mission trying to break the cycle of murders that are happening by burning the houses of where the murders took place. The deputy and Courtney become friends after he helps fight off sheriffs that try to take the boys away. During this time Dylan is being shown murder videos by the children of the dead families. Clint eventually gets custody of the boys, and Courtney goes with them so that they will not get separated. While they are all together, Dylan’s brother Zach becomes possessed by the dead children and decides to make a murder video of his own family. Zach kills his father, and attempts to kill his mother and brother, but is stopped by the deputy. In the end, the deputy breaks the cycle of the murders and saves Courtney and Dylan, while Zach is consumed by Bughuul, an evil spirit. The main character’s role can be viewed as an independent mother who does whatever it takes to keep her boys safe. Although the movie doesn’t show it, Courtney was abused by her ex-husband Clint, which is why she left with the boys in the first place. In most films, the main reason for divorce in families is because the husband is abusive.

The blackmail influences the suicide of Judge Irwin, makes Adam Stanton accept the position as head of the hospital that Willie is building, and Anne Stanton begins an affair with Willlie. Adam murders Willie when he finds out about Willie and Anne. This horrific event lead to Jack’s retiring from politics forever.

Like any hero, Will is an honest, responsible, and respectful person. Though he is soft spoken and quite shy, he is very kind, friendly and also very curious. While Will’s tendency to get distracted and ask many questions annoy Halt, he eventually becomes very fond of him, serving as not only a mentor, but a fatherly figure as well. Always ready to follow orders and do the right thing, Will is an excellent apprentice and a likable character that keeps the audience immersed in the book. The reported effects include decreased ability to metabolize glucose (similar to what occurs in diabetes) and increased levels of cortisol (a stress hormone involved in memory and regulation of blood sugar levels). Will is an orphan with a criminal record of Assault, grand theft auto, assaulting a police officer, etc. Will solves a complex math problem, which leads to him being discovered by professor Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) as a genius. Professor Lambeau makes a deal with the judge when Will is incarcerated to be on parole under Lambeau’s supervision and Will is ordered to see a therapist once a week. Will Outsmarts many of the therapists, which forces Lambeau to go to his last resort, college friend and psychology teacher Sean Macguire (Robin Williams).
The character that will be focused on is Whip Whitaker in the movie Flight. Whip Whitaker is a male African-American, pilot that has no religious beliefs or spiritualism in the beginning of the film. Prior to his career with SouthJet Airlines, he was a pilot in the Navy. He is divorced with one son; in the beginning of the film he has a relationship with his co-worker, Katerina, and throughout the movie builds a new romantic relationship with Nicole. While he initially showed lack of faith throughout much of the movie, the change in Whip towards the end of the film demonstrates faith by facing the truth and allowing the higher power to be in control of the next events. Before admitting the truth in the hearing, he mutters “God help me” and proceeds to show integrity and courage despite knowing that the consequence for telling the truth will be jail time for him. He displays courage, valor, and expertise when he takes control of a crashing airplane and saves 96 out of 102 people on board the plane. When he finds out that Katerina as well as 5 other people have been killed, he shows toughness and resilience and is able to overcome the loss he experiences and the guilt he is ridden with. He is an experienced airplane pilot that is courageous, persistent, resilient, and at times, brutally honest. Whip’s coping mechanisms are denial, dissociation, acting out, displacement, and undoing. While he is going through an immensely tumultuous time, he displays resiliency and perseverance to overcome the legal ramifications of the airplane crash that he was piloting. With intervention of Limbaeu, Will meets Sean Mcguire and the two are connected through the geography that they were both raised. Sean brilliantly leads the young genius through the different avenues of feeling, that he is so blind too and there is a break though for Will, in that he can start to live outside of the book and truly see the big picture of life. This ?big picture? is merely learning how to love. Though Sean is a master at learning from books, he has little understanding on how things work in actual experience. Sean teaches him to understand what is an ideal and what is experience and therefore gives him the proper balance to survive in a world that had treated Sean so badly. The end of the story ends with Chuckie, not showing up to pick him up for work, which meant that he, in a way sacrificed himself to let his friend escape South Boston, and Will takes off to California to reunite with Sklark, whom he had pushed away. Sean gets a letter from Will saying ?thank you? and the resolution of the story is complete.
