God does not make mistakes. God is the architect of the family unit. The family unit is designed to serve as a multifaceted system of sustainability, development, and furtherance of God’s will. There can be no sustainability outside the empowerment of the vine. The words of Jesus in John 15:1-5 is a blueprint not only for a believer’s identity but also for the concept of a family. Based on the confirmation that God is our Creator in Colossian 1:16 which states “For by Him (God) all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him” and reality of John 15:5, the husband and wife should be followers of Christ. Today, nontraditional families, which comprise of Cohabitant, Single-Parent, Extended, and Same-Sex families have become the norm forcing internal instability in each of the members of the family. As Christians, parents are taught in Ephesians 6:4 to not to provoke their children to anger and in Proverbs 22:6 to train up their child in a direction that they will not depart from. Today, humanity has been accustomed to momentary gratification rather than a lifelong satisfaction. This has affected their decision making so that they can accommodate operating in their feelings. The only biblical approval for divorce is when the spouse commits adultery, not, having too many disagreements, social status, or any other nonsense. Christians households are supposed to bring everything to God and allow Him to guide their steps and to be a witness to non-believers. Children naturally mimics the behavior of their parents. If the parents operate outside of God’s Will then the child learns that it is ok to disobey God, therefore, cause sinful desires to grow into an internal death to God’s Will, word, and voice.
