Introduction Preparing for the future is essential in life. Setting and reaching goals is how I aspire for my future profession to happen just like I have planned. I am preparing to become a sports broadcaster. This is the profession I am passionate about. With hard work and careful planning I am sure to reach my goal. Narration Sports broadcasting is not the easiest job. Although it is an exciting job, there are no lazy days. This job requires a person to be very well spoken and very knowledgable about the various sports and athletes. Knowing about these sports and the athlete's current achievements, as well as their history is a must for a great interview. A sports broadcaster's appearance is also a very important part of the job. The pressure is on when you are in front of the camera. People all over the world could be watching you live on the television. That is why it is important to be well groomed, in good shape and to dress very processional at all times. Image is very important. Confirmation Sports broadcasting would be a great career choice for me. Taking into consideration that I have no problem speaking in public, no matter how large or small the event is. I also take …show more content…
I would be attending many sporting events and traveling frequently. This would not be good for family life. It is important for me to participate in my children's lives and support them in their education and any sports or extracurricular activities they participate in. I hope to be a supportive parent and to be emotionally and physically there for my children. This would not be possible traveling frequently. At that time I could choose to be a local news anchor. The job is similar and is also something I am interested in doing. This would give me the time that is needed to raise my family as well as provide for
Lopiano, D. A. (2008, February 12). Media coverage of women's sports is important. Sports Management Resources. Retrieved from http://www.sportsmanagementresources.com/library/media-coverage-womens-sports
Can women's sports establish itself as a topic of on-going media and journalism curiosity? Currently TV stations do minimal coverage of women's sports, while newspapers and magazines do just a little bit better. In a recent interview with Gary Webb, a sports writer for The Spectrum, he says that "the people have demonstrated that there is an audience that loves hearing about women athletes. After all, they are somebody's kids, sisters, and moms". I learned that these sports writers love to cover women's games, especially girls highschool basketball games. Gary said that he would rather watch a Parowan-Beaver girls game over the boys anyday. Karen Winegar, staff writer for the The Star Tribune of Minnesota said., "Portrayal of female athletes is improving, but despite increasing interest and participation, their sports are getting no more coverage than they got five years ago" (1A+). Women's sports participation will surely continue to grow in the future, so the media and journalists better be prepared to increase their coverage accordingly.
Media plays a large role in affecting peoples thinking, opinions, ideas, etc. In essence media can shape our thinking into negative views and perspectives that are typically not true. Sometimes the media plays as a puppet master to society. Specifically, the inequity of the gender roles within sports causes for a stir in commotion that calls for some attention. In doing so the inadequate misuse of media towards women in sports causes low exposure, amongst many other things. On the other hand their male counterparts are on the other end of the success spectrum. Because of this noticeable difference, it is vital that action is taken place to level out equality within sports. Due to the power of media, it is believed that a change in media coverage
Publicity is a big aspect of becoming a broadcaster because many people will know who you are and what you do. Overall, sports broadcasters have a busy schedule with many different reasons that make it so
This was my decision due to the fact I wanted to go into broadcasting, that’s all I knew. To no surprise as college was in the near future those same adults that had asked about my plans my whole life were asking me about my nonexistent career. There was no end in regards to the ever evolving question of curiosity brought on by the adults in my life. The reality of the situation is that even though I have a declared major with an idea of what I would like to do as a career I still have no clue what I really want to do with my life, and that’s completely okay. Most college students have no idea what it is that they are truly passionate about. Some students do have everything planned out, and that’s great, but by not knowing what I want to do yet puts me in the majority of clueless college
Knowing what education and training is required will be key to becoming a successful sports journalist. “If you plan such a career, include courses in writing; grammar skills will be a necessity. You should also consider a strong background in the humanities and use free electives to take sports courses from the physical education program” (Heitzman 62). Achieving a bachelor's
Focus on the Personal Life: The media focuses on the married life, dating life and other personal circumstances of the female athletes. The focus is on the "womanliness" and not their athletic ability.

Sports radio and podcasts make up a huge part of my day. When I’m in my car I’m listening to WEEI, which is Boston sports radio, on my walks to class I listen to ESPN radio. Sports Radio is one of the main ways that I stay up today in the sports world.
First off, I want to graduate from college and do it well. I want to be able to do things on the weekends and not worry about having to make things up or anything like that. I am hoping for a scholarship in football, in my opinion that would be a great start for me in college. Then after college maybe pursue that as a career. If that doesn't work out for me then I want to look into athletic training or physical therapy. If those things don't interest me or I don't get into it I am then looking into law. That will take much more time and patience, but it's gonna be the rest of my life.
Throughout my life, I had continually believed that once I graduated college, I would engage in an action filled career. I wanted to be a police officer, a firefighter or even an undercover FBI agent. I had planned on studying criminal justice, and I took numerous high school classes based on it. Nevertheless, my plan transformed the summer between my junior and senior years. It was my grandma that influenced me to transform my criminal justice plan into a nursing plan. For most of my life, I may not have acknowledged exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up, but I did know that I sought to help people.
Those reasons are the uses and gratification model provided by McQuail, Blumler, and Brown. People want to get fulfillment after watching a show or in this case a sports broadcast. They wanted to achieve something like making sure their team is doing well or all the players are healthy. In the case of ESPN, there are two ways to view this information. The viewer can either watch the broadcast and be entertained by the broadcasters and see the plays.
Now this is all I think about. At first the main career goal was always to make money, a significant wage that would allow myself and my family to live extremely comfortably. As time goes on and I have matured money is still a goal, I still not only want to be fairly compensated, but I need to be as does everyone really. More importantly on my list of goals is that I want to have a career where it is just that a career. I go to work every day and have that feeling of accomplishment that people are depending on me to show up and do my job to make their jobs easier. I want to at least in some way make a difference and do something that matters even if the masses may not know me or what I do my staff will feel my absence as well as my presence completely in a good way. My goals are to be successful and respected not only by my peers but even acquaintances and to finally have something that when the time is right I will actually be able to retire from and not have to be like so many in my family and work right up until I’m broken and can’t go on any longer. My main goal is to be something my children can be proud of and aspire to
When I grow up, I want to be a tennis player, that is my first decision and what I would genuinely like to be when I'm a grown-up. But, let's assume becoming a tennis player does not work out for me, I have a backup plan too. If being a tennis player does not work out for me, I would want to become a CEO so I can make billions of dollars. But, if that doesn't work out either, I honestly don't know anything
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
