Freak the Mighty

In the story, Freak the Mighty, Rodman Philbrick tells the story of two unlikely friends, came along. He encouraged Max to read and write more often. Max had always sat in the “down both with unique imperfections. With Freak’s (Kevin’s) brain and Max’s size, the extraordinary friendship creates “Freak the Mighty”. Max was never too fond of reading or writing until Freak under” (the basement) reading comics, but then Freak had helped him come out of his shell. The author illustrates how someone can impact another one’s life.

During the story, Freak and Max demonstrate friendship when Max carries Freak on his shoulders. 1) Max demonstrates compassion by carrying Freak because he has a physical disability and he has trouble walking, and Freak demonstrates compassion by showing Max that he is smarter than he thinks he is. Together the friends survive attacks by Tony D., his gang, and their classmates. They join forces to go on quests slaying dragons and helping damsels in distress. 2) On page 78, the author states,”I’m standing there with Freak high above me and it feels right, makes me feel strong and smart.” This shows that not matter what you look like or what you know, a friendship will always happen. …show more content…

Freak thought Max that there is more to the world than his basement and comic books.
